Thread: Rifle with other combat combo
I've been testing some things with other proffessions like pistol with their dodge and carbine with their counter
I'm a Master Riflemen with 4,0,4,4 Pistoleer
I'm trying to get riflemen with dodge but I don't think this works
I would like to know if dodge,counter works with rifle equipped
Dodge, counter and block only work with the weapon that grants them.
Fist get master if you want to do PVP
Second, only ranged defence stacks. So get TK or Fencer trees or both. The result is a pretty uber template cause enemies without uber accurancy miss about 80% of their shots. But as far as i know the stacking of all defence(ranged def., dogde, meleedef.)and offence(like carbine speed and accurancy of BH and Carbinier)mods is gonna be nerfed at least its on the GCW bug list.
28) Certain player templates with stacking skill mods are over powered, (recently even CSRs wrongly banned a player because they thought they were cheating when in fact it was simply stacked skill mods)
check out Raphayl's posts in the fencer forum - lots of good knowledge in there.
dodge only works with fencer/pistol.
if you want to stack anything, stack Defense vs *....* , Ranged Defense, and Melee defense. RIGHT NOW, these stack.
i'll leave it up to you to figure out the best ways to do that.
note> it's great to have a master melee + master ranged profession under your toons' belt, for pvp - then you get the mitigation 3 for each and are very versatile.
rifleman is great for stacking ranged/melee defenses, pistol may look great on paper with it's crazy defense vs... and dodge, but as an offense profession it's nowhere near a rifle. something to think about...

why will the defence from the pistoleer skill do not work with equipped rifle? they are both ranged weapons.
i think this has to work. what about the 50+ to knockdown?

Some mods are weapons specific, some are not. Melee defense and ranged defense are not weapon specific, so they stack.
However, I am both Rifleman and Swordsman. I have Block from Rifleman and Counterattack from Swordsman. Yet, I will not see my toon doing counterattacks with a rifle equipped nor blocks with my 2H Swords equipped (though, when you think about it, it would make moresense the other way around).
Carbineers, on the other hand, get Counterattack. But if I had gone Carbineer, rather than Swordsman, the same would hold true: counterattacks only with the carbine, and blocks only with the Rifle even though both are ranged weapons. However, Carbineer and Swordsman both have Counterattack, and I believe it is still true that, because you are using weapons in either case that work with Counterattack, the mods for counterattack will still stack for a Carbineer/Swordsman just as Dodge for Pistoleer/Fencers stack.
So it is not whether they are ranged vs. melee, but whether the weapons for that class work with that particular mod.
Of course, block appears to be broken right now. In fact, while Counterattack fires off, it is supposed to return an unstoppable "counter" attack. It does not appear to cause damage when it does work, so it, too, is broken to some degree.
yes, all Ranged and Melee Defense stack, and so does defense vs *status*.
I have almost mastered rifleman, and was planning to be a TKA as well. But my x-mas holo said i needed to master commando. I have posted this as a topic, because i really havent seen that combo in game before, or heard anyone mention it. I'm not sure the two would compliment each other the best....
Whats your guys opinion of a rifleman/commando combo??
