To try and clarify all of the wrong information that is continually getting posted, which inturn upsets more people and create more wrong posts I will post the correct information regarding contraband as I get it.


1) IN cities Imperial Troops will routinely shake down players looking for contraband, spice and sliced armor/weapons are confirmed as contraband.


2) Cantina Shakedowns are reported to be more common, Imperial Probe Driods will randomly appear to scan you out in the wilderness/dungeons.


3) Currently on Test, Imperials are 500 FP or lose a rank if they do not have that much FP saved up when caught with contraband. THIS IS BEING CHANGED AND NOT GOING LIVE, I am told the Imperial penalty will be small if anything at all.


4) I am being Told Neutrals get fined credits, remeber having contraband is against the law, you are being fined for breaking the law and are not being dragged into the GCW.


5) Rebels get a TEF, Attacking or fighting the troops or droid who did the scan results in an Imperial Shuttle landing and off loading a 10 Storm Trooper squad to deal with rebel scum.


6) Lokian wheat and republic blasters are NOT contraband.


7) Nothing gets confiscated, the developers agree taking stuff from players is simply bad game design, do not expect this to ever happen.


8) Smugglers being grouped help you pass contra band scans the amount of help is based on thier underworld skill line, Master smugglers provide the most help, I have no hard numbers on it)


I will clarify and post more information as it comes in.

i'm a reb, and i still think it's a good change.


though, i think they ought to make the penalty rank based--- less of a penalty for higher ranking imperial officers (rank hath it's priveledges) and an imperial private should be pretty severely punished, i'd say...

dunno bout that. Vader forced choked higher ranks for infractions and just for giving him lip...

Accually it should be MUCH harder on higher ranking Imperial Officers. You are to set an example for those under your command. And what kind of example are you setting? Rank has it's responsibilities as much as it's priveledges.

you two are both substituting realism or common sense for game mechanics.


seriously.. the devs love sinks. credit sinks, particularly, but faction point sinks too. making the penalties less as you go up makes an incentive for people to run faction missions, accumulate points, and spend them on something otherwise worthless (ranks).


if the penalties were less for lower ranks, no one would go above sgt unless they wanted to get a base.

I like the part where 10 storm troopers drop out of the sky

Sounds like an easy way to grind rebel fp for those with high enough combat skill

They also said the troops will either be worth no faction at all or worth very little, they don't want this to be an easy way to grind reb faction.

And mind you this will be in Imperial Cities, which means TEF, that translates into easy kill for any Overt Imp in the area. I heard somewhere they took my idea and if you are overt and imp then you don't get scanned, don't know if that has any truth to it though. I just think its a little lame rebels saying its a good thing for us to be severely punished. Sorry but first we have lower numbers, now we can't get any faction pets cause all of our faction is gone or we have to use crappy unliced armor and weapons. Yeah ok that makes a lot of sense
