which foods should i use ? what ever keeps you alive
in a group? no
armor? no
non CH pet worth it? no
which specials? mindshot1 headshot1
how long will this take? Depends on how much time you have. You need to learn to equip your fastest rifle and kite. aka your spraystick . Chose targets that are easily kiteable , squalls , torton's nudfuh's
Your in for avery long road up to master rifleman , You might need to rethink your methods on target choice and combat. Its a differant tactic then stand there and take a beating.
I have a similar template atm and here is how I do it.
Background: Master HS Master Brawler TKA 4/0/0/0
Get conceal shot

my stats are like this 800/500/300/800/450/300/1000/500/900
mind and quickness and str are all maxed
i also have 4000 TKA so i can heal my wounds anywhere and PB myself which helps a lot.
im also a 0040 medic cause i like to heal myself with stim d's
im working on mast rifleman
my template will be 0040 medic/4000 tka/mast rifleman/mast fencer
will this be a good combo? it will allow me to roleplay as a tusken too which would be kinda cool
whose tried it, how is it good?
im at 3000 marksman and stuck, this looks like itwill be a hard grind, i prone from 64m shoot with my laser rifle, after 2 shots the animal charges at me and i have to bust out the gaffi stick...im thinking of getting a non CH pet to tank for me, though i dont think it could tank much because its wont have much HAM or resistances. my three questions which basically is the just of this post are:
- what should i hunt?
- which foods should i use
- in a group?
- armor?
- non CH pet worth it?
- which specials?
- how long will this take?
As far as the template - you'll have a wide variety of defences - so that's good. With the upcoming combat balance anything's possible so stick with what you like - you'll be survivable no matter what.
MRM isn't an easy grind - you're right.
Since you don't have a pet, make sure you hunt things that do not run very fast (tortons on Rori, torturs on Talus, Grondas on Corellia, Squalls/ Crazed Durnis, Snorbals on Lok, etc). Make sure you scale up as you go further up the tree. Get a CL10 pet though - group with it and leave it somewhere safe. That will give you an XP bonus. As far as taking damage - they just aren't as useful as they once were.
Chef food is getting all shaken up in a week, so it may take a while to learn what foods are best for us. Come back here often and surf for that info as people try different things. Learn to love Muon Gold - sure it's illegal but until the food gets sorted it's a reliable way to minimise your downtime and take on tougher creatures.
Do not group with others because your abysmally slow fire rate early on will result in you getting very little damage compared to pistolleers and melee types. Thus you'll get very little XP. Group for social reasons (so you don't go insane from killing elephant-type creatures) - but the XP will stink for a while.
Never wear armour unless the thing catches up to you, you can't afford the hit to your mind pools. Make sure you upgrade your weapons regularily to get the best speed possible (early parts of the tree) or the best damage possible (after a few levels on the far right of the skill tree).
My strategy would be:
Go prone at the optimum range of your hardest hitting rifle, hit your strongest bleed (since they aren't stackable as of next Thurs). Stand up and run to about 90m away from the critter. The bleed will tick and the creature will come after you(thus you don't get a bunch on you at once). Switch to a rifle appropriate to the critter's resists and has a decient mind cost. Hit a couple of headshots as the thing gets to abotu 64m and start running directly away.
It will probably lose interest occasionally - allowing you to pick up distance - until the next bleed ticks. If the bleed runs out - reapply as fast as possible. Keep popping off the headshots until it dies. If it gets close try to limit the non-rifle damage you do.
This will probably take a long time if you aren't a powergamer. Since you have fencer you can run around whomping things when you get bored and still rack up the Combat XP. The faster you get the Combat XP related speed increases the less painful it will be.
You can get either Conceal Shot first (if you like that gameplay) or go straight up Sniping for accuracy. Some will recommend counter-sniping first to get Flushing Shot II at level III. This is an AoE - which is fun, but only worth it if you can find a nice tank to get all the mobs in a close circle and ignoring you. If you can find this situation regularily though the Rifle XP flows in like water.
One final thought - I never use power-ups because I don't like buying new guns every week. Others swear by them. It's up to you, but be aware that your gun's condition drops a great deal faster with one than without.
Good luck,
