Thread: Resistances and knockdown

Quick question for all you master riflemen who play with carbiners as backup.

I was fighting nightsister Protectors the other day and they resist energy 100%. There were 2 carbinerers with me both using laser carbines. Our first thought was that they would knock it down while I went and punched it while in my armor, but what we noticed was that every time she was knocked down they were doing full dmg to her. I switch to my T21 and we finished her off before she got within 40 meters of us. It seemed to me that every time she was knocked down she lost all her risistances, but when she got back up we couldn't dmg her anymore.

While this is a nice way to take out nightsisters, its not why I'm posting. I want to know if the same thing happens in PVP. If you get knocked down does your armor become worthless? I know knocked down characters take 3 times the normal dmg, but do they also lose all the resistances in their armor? If so, this would explain why a TKM can kill you so fast while you are on the ground even though you have 80% kinetic resist.

Since 2 of my guildmates are now carbiners my role as a rifleman has changed big time. My only job now in pvp is to get a stun on people to negate the range defence so the carbiners can hit them and then to area dizzy the whole group. Once they are on the ground I switch to SS2 normally or HS2 Jawa against those tough armored guys. I'm just wondering if I should even bother with the jawa when shooting at knocked down armored targets.

Good question

Maybe try some testing if noone knows for sure.

Knockdown someone with full compo and use T21 and knockdown same person without armour and check the damage floating above the persons head.

If its roughly same figures (probs have to do it several times) then maybe it will give you some answers.

Lol, I'm lazy and hate testing. I was hoping somebody had already done the work for me like Volsted or WayneinAustin. I would test this tonight but I'm going out of town till Friday and thought I would throw this out there so people can check it out while I'm gone and all will be answered when I get back .

It doesnt - I can confirm that because I lasted through a TKM pounding the crap outta me while I was Dizzy and KD with my armor on!

you take additional damage while knocked down, so perhaps that was what you were seeing...

I've seen some pretty flaky stuff in terms of 100% energy npcs, sometimes damage occurs sometimes it doesn't.
