I just made master rifles (hooray for me!) and I'm very happy with it. Also being a master ch I can take on pve stuff I never dreamed I could as a master dancer
. I was just wondering what surprise shot it good for. The in-game explanation blurb doesn't really give too much information.

Well there are several posts on this already, but I will answer anyways. Suprise Shot as it is now is just a single target random ham damage shot. According to the description you have to be in cover to use it, but that is not true more than likely due to it being broken. It is not very useful except in PvE hunts where you only want to target one creature and not attack the mind specifically, ie large group hunts, other than that it is pointless.

suprise shot is broken... should only work after yo uhave taken cover, but i can fire it standing up just fine... its a 3x damage mod and the creature/npc isnt supposed to see you, doesnt seem to work half the time however.

Don't believe a word they say, suprise shot is an increadable powerful move, if you have a decorative shisha in your inventory, and a nemoidian birdcage balanced on your head. ¬.¬

Crap, I have been balancing the birdcage on my knee, which is not easy to do when prone and in cover. No wonder I was not impress by it... It all makes sense now.

if it only worked in cover it would become totally useless then. i use it now as a courtesy shot when im in a group so others can have the thrill of the kill also. and even then i often switch over to autofire.
