Thread: How do I defend against knock down?
Hello all, I'm an aspiriing rifleman 4243 and I just had a friendly duel with my BH friend. I think he is 0111. We started out at 25m (I wanted him to be able to use his "lightening single" (or some such) that he said he just got. I just spammed HS2 and 3 and in 5 shots (2 misses yikes!) he was down. I was darn close to being down though. We healed up and I noticed that I was using the wrong weapon. The T21 I had used was at about 15% and the damage dropped a lot, plus I had no powerup. We decided to try it again. I equiped my NEW t21 damage sliced and powered up (607 max damage) and we paced out to 50m. My fist HS3 hit for a paltry 250 damage. My next one slammed him for 526 and his mind bar was nearly out. Then it happened, knockdown....
I was toast.
We were just fooling around trying our weapons out and such, so I wasn't running, kiting or anything else. My question is, how do I defend against KD when it really counts? Always run around? I find I miss a lot when I do that.
Any help would be appreciated.

psh my ranged def is so high no one can hit me. 2 master riflemen vs me master riflemen and I win. 2 BH vs me and I still win, 2 tka masters and I win, I own pretty much everything.

if you mean KD from a TKA ... only option is run and kite, when fighting against the ranged knockdown (fire KD or whatever) I think the only thing you can do is pray those shots miss you. Maybe you can get/look for a tape with some +range defence? no clue if something like that exists out there.
oh, and once you hit master you will rarely miss any shot, regardless if standing still or running around

How high is your ranged def? What's your template? I'm edging closer to TKM/MRM. My ranged def will be over 120. I'm trying to decide between master brawler or go up the fencer range def/melee def tree to get my defenses over 170.
I never give out my template then you all will copy and I'm too much of an ass for that

My melee is over 170.
No one OTHER than TKA masters touch me.
It is very possible to do:
MRM
TKM
Fencer 4-4-0-0
marksman 4-0-0-4
brawler 4-4-0-0
novice medic
The only problem is the lack of scout and terrain negotiation. this gives a melee defense of ~178 (190 with bio wear); ranged of ~199. KD and posture down of 70-80. {note numbers are approximate as I am at work}
If you're buffed, it's not going to be the KD that kills you, it's the Dizzy (makes KD last a long time for people without Dizzy Defense). KD alone generally last 3-5 secs tops, but with Dizzy it can last a minute+.
