Thread: Rifle range?

I know about the supposed 64 max range... but I was attacking a lair and decided to walk a meter at a time. When I got to 68m did I get the OUT OF RANGE option. I can fire (albeit inaccurately since I have Sniping I) up to 67m away. Anyone confirm/disprove?

I think Creatures/NPCs are limited to 64m... But I did have 67 against a lair.

I have been able to snipe from a prone position with a particular rifle from out to 70m. I think your position (i.e. prone, standing, kneeling), the weapon you are using, and your Rifle skills all play a factor.

lvl of creatures makes a huge differance..i can "snipe" a giant dune kimo from 71meters....but i got tired of never getting giant dune kimogila scales..for RIS armor..only component im lacking....and after 51 Giant Dune Kimo kills.....and no loot....you kinda give up......for now..

My guess is that the rng that shows is not 100% accurate, as i have with pistols many times been able to shot from 65-70m away.

Level has nothing to do with it. It's geomitry. I get similar effects messing with Tortons.

The deal is this: You can have an strike zone that is different then your target HUD distance in such a way that you are closer then it says you are. Even static lairs have "volume" to them. With the Kymo, those things are HUGE and you can get a dramatic difference. In fact, they can reach you from 64m with a physical attack.

It is a number of factors already stated above that explains why it looks like you are shooting over 64 meters so I will address this from another angle.

The max range is 64 meters and will remain 64 meters for one simple reason. The client is only aware of things 64 meters away. The server updates items within 64 meters away. You do have a basic idea of the surounding environment so can see this but actual details and things like creatures, lairs, harvesters, and other players the range is 64. If anything moves away and breaks the 64 meter distance, the client may continue to draw it and track its estimated position on radar but as far as the server is concerned, the thing no longer exists to the client.
