Hi, I just picked up rifleman after being a master tailor for a long time. Ive read a few stuff about rifleman and not being able to wear armor, and cant really find a good answer why. Is it cause we cant, or you just dont want to?

If so, is there any type of armor combination i should buy?

Evack,

Being a Master Rifleman I found that lowering my Health and Action to both 400 and using the stat points to jack up my Willpower and Focus to the MAX, as I am a Human, and putting my Mind to 800 does me good. But you need to remember that being a Rifleman it's customization of your stats and how you play that matters. Because I put my stats to this I buy a couple of crates of Tatooine Sunburns, and Biviolio Meat... I think that's what it is called. And I buy some Muon Gold (Spice). Now when I go into PvP I always get buffed. Then right before I engage in combat I use my Muon Gold ONLY if necessary but I eat my food/drinks.

Yesterday I took out a Master TKA at point blank range and the funny thing is I let him get that close to me. I was also able to take out 6 opponents and 1 was a Master Carbineer, other Master Pikeman and others were Medics. Of course they had to heal themselves and gang up on my 6 vs. 1 (me) before they could kill me. I was also wearing Adv. Composite Armor that was sliced but the starting stats before they were sliced were 56% resistance. I always need to be buffed in order for me to use the armor. Buffs last about 2-3 hours. The food and drink and spice last about 9-13 minutes depending on the quality. That's why I use them when it's only necessary.

You won't be a real threat to anyone UNTIL you master rifleman. Once you master the profession you pose a huge threat to all melee fighters, carbineers, pistoleers, etc. But Master BH's i've never fought before. So I don't know about that.

If you want to try armor with the lowest Mind encumbrancetry Marauder armor. Go to the Marauder ship on Endor and take missions from the King. He'll give you 4 pieces (25% Kinetic). I'd recommend this to those starting Novice Rifleman. At higher levels when you want to pvp go for composite.

if you don't have a problem with buffs being a requirement to function (by which i mean food, spice, doc, dancer, musician) then you can get away with wearing armor

armor is not necessary for a sharpshooter in pve. you can kill practically anything with time, patience, and concealshot (a little luck doesn't hurt either).

in pvp, however, armor is borderline essential. basically it all boils down to the fact that most other people will be wearing armor. due to the high proportion of bountyhunters in pvp, helmet and chestpiece are a must. the problem is that this weighs heavily on your mind substats :/ in turn, you will probably end up an overweight spice addict (^_^) if you can, get yourself a helmet made with nightsister armor shards (each shard adds -10 to mind cost, not alot but every bit helps!)

Was just curious - being a newbie rifleman and all... You mention all these different things to buff your mindstats - but what the %&%¤ are they and where do you get it?

Tatooine sunburst?

Bivioli Meats?

Ryshcates?

BoH?

plz let me know...

They don't mix. For me anyway when i am facing another master rifleman who is in a fu suit of armor i slaughter him and i do well in pvp without armor. But i do use shields.

I am by no meanse the expert on it, but I find armor slows me down more than it helps out. Reason being I'm usually behind a BH, laying down headshot2s on any rebel that comes into range. With the new "Sniper Support" thing, and the "concealment" bonus I can go prone 60m out, and Snipe an entire Rebel base to pieces without ever being seen. So in PvE, armor isn't worth the credits, or the encumberance. IMO

PvP i a different story. If you tend to be run down by melee types, or are within 50m, its pretty much essential. If you're the last man in, and the first man out - if you feel like having it, but I'de rather have complete stats over an occasional dmg reduction(occasional cause thats how often you'll get shot at).

Over all, if you keep an element of surprize - you're god in PvE with or without it. If you play it smart - you won't need it in PvP either

All the above IMO. I'm not a Master Rifleman, but if I can do this all at my level of Rifleman a Master should have NO PROBLEM.

I use nicely sliced adv. composite armor. 50% resist all (Except stun) and 60% special electricity.

The full set has less than 400 of everything encumbrence. Can wear it without buffs or anything. Great combo, but hard to get armor like it.

Here is my situation/armor setup

My total encumberance from my advanced comp is 340. That is after slicing and slicing and paying and paying for the right suit. I have 1100/1100/800 mind stats, and i buff the rest. My t21 has a mind encumb of 102 (stocked, so it does an extra 30 min damage pre-slice, which is important with damage mitigation).

Without any food/spice/buff I take 89 points of damage every time I shoot. If I take some fried corillian ice cream, I take 15 damage each time i shoot. when I throw my armor on, it jumps to about 70. I always hit moen right before the PvP fight starts, so I can wear my armor and not take damage. I also take some fishank, which means that with my doc buffs, I usually have about 2000/2000/2000 ham.

Since my post food/spice focus is so high, with armor I end up taking no damage from shooting. Very important, since I am shooting once a second.

My recomendation is: If you want low encumb armor, take all the 10% Krayt composite armor segments, and have them made into armor. You should be able to find them pretty cheep, and they make VERY low encumberance. Most of the pieces will be right around the encumberance of sliced armor before the slice. The resists won't be very impressive with just the 10's, but every little bit counts. Also, wear a shield generator on top of it all, and you will be able to mind shot anyone much faster than they can take you down.
