I actually ended up as a master rifleman by accident becasue of taking TKA masternext to master commando.
I got sick of having no terrain negotiation skills, I took a look at rifleman and realised that it's specials drained the same HAM pool as TKA. So I dropped master commando a couple of weeks back and picked up master rifleman. Ok I can no longer do silly damage in PvP with a flamer but that was getting boring anyway. But I am pretty **edit** effective. I have a much higher kill to death ratio than I ever had as a TKA/commando.
Also we are the only profession that gets a huge benefit from the ranged support tree of marksman, our sniping tree builds on what ranged support gave us to start with.
You should be pleased.
Rifleman seems to be the only elite profession that doesn't need to be augmented by additional skills and stat modifiers from other professions.
Are you refering to our Block skill here? You know the one that doesn't work. I'll take a working Counterattck/Dodge.

We have the highest melee/ranged defense of all ranged classes, which makes us harder to hit in general. Pistoleer and carbineer have higher counterattack/dodge but those skills are messed up and much less useful than melee/ranged defense.
The animation when you dodge an attack prevents you from moving until it's finished, and if you have a very high dodge bonus then you'll probably dodge another as soon as it's done and get stuck again, making kiting very hard. Counterattack and block don't have the animation problem but I don't think they're working properly (not reducing damage, not actually counterattacking, etc).

Ranged Defense, Melee Defense, and Block. Block may not work as intended, but I "Blocked" (Dodged) last night. And now that the 2.5x melee damage modifer is out of the game, that is no longer a factor in comparing defenses to like a Pistoleer.
The new concealment chance to be not detected by all mobs is also nice if you PvE at all.

Counterattack doesn't have the animation problem, but as a master carbineer, I noticed that I could not use certain attacks while in the conuterattack *state*. Also from my experience Counter-Attack and Block are just dodge with a different name right now (outside of animation), many people have also felt this was the case. Coming from Carbineer, we focused on this issue because well... at Master we have +27 Ranged Defense (25 from master box), besides that we pretty much just have counter attack and can confirm it (and block) are working, just not as *intended* based on the discriptions in game.
I am a master rifleman/swordsman as is. I was just making a point that it would be nice to have some other options with a rifle. Like for instance have a rifle in the commando tree or the acid rifle in the BH tree. Variety is all my point was. I really have no complaints with our power/balance. Just the ability to make ourselves a little more unique.

I proposed, more then once, that Ranger (which also has concealment tactics) should have some special relationship with rifleman. What the relationship is would be debaitable but it makes sense to me that a hunter use a rifle. A critical hit chance ot some such silliness.
