anybody else noticing that when you hit with an AE attack sometimes the MOBs that are hit that are not being trageted don't actually take any damage?

What is up with this?

From my understanding for the ae to hit and damage a target the target has to be aggresive towards you or the group..

if the target in the ae feild is minding its on bussiness then it will not take damage untill it aggros on you or the group.

ok, that makes sense. That is always the way it works out, so I just have to cycle through targets. thanks for the answer

no, actually the mob has to be in combat mode to be affected by the AoE attack.

Once I was in the base south of the Lake Retreat and attacking some TEF imp who was fighting a surface marshal ... well I attacked with strafeshot2 and also hit the marshal, who aggroed on me since then some of the rebel NPCs in that base are attackable for me, but not aggro

Yes, it has to be in combat. Try it on two critters fighting and you'll kill both. This is why I often use a pet to get the attention of a whole herd and once they get grouped togheter and attack I'll start shooting.
