Thread: Question for you Master Riflemen...
I am not a master but I have a firm, in my own opinion, grasp of the profession, at least in PvE.
And since that is what you ask about...
1: Any ranged profession can solo the krayt dragons. Its AI is poor, so it can get stuck places. Particularily in imperial or rebel NPC bases put near the canyons. It really needs to be able to avoid getting stuck or it remains an easy kill. (It IS easy, as long as you don't slugfest it.).
Somecreatures aggro at ranges greater than 64 meters, those you can not solo with conceal shot unless you are also a ranger. (depending on the creature). I believe some versions of krayt fall into this category.
2:
You use cover for conceal shot and surprise shot. Any other specials like mindshot and headshot you do not need cover for. Rifleman is NOT good in confined spaces like fort tusken, the warrens, or the COA warehouses; that is their main weakness. Rifleman are also fairly weak until they get near master. At master they are deadly, and at master you SHOULD be able to overcome those weaknesses and wreak havoc in fort Tusken. Not unbuffed, though. Unlike a TKM we have few 'defensive special attacks' so we rely on damage output and also need to be able to soak up some. Buffs become increasingly obligatory.
3:
I cannot answer this easily. It gives a + to the cover skill, which is the skil used to take cover. I assume that increases the chance of successfully taking cover rather than the effect of taking cover, however I have not looked too closely at that.
/takecover Doesn't really do anything. So you don't need to use it. Just go prone and use your attacks.
At Master you will get the fabled StrafeShot2. Depending on your template, buffs, armor, etc you may be able to solo the Tusken Fort. I do Piket missions and using Strafe2 can clear it in about 5 minutes. Being a Wookiee that means no armor and I don't usually use buffs. Just some food/drink to lower HAM costs. Never even tried Muon.
The cover bonus increases your chance of /takecover being successful. Though since it appears to be broken or at least have little to no effect, the bonus is of dubious value.
Some have suggested that /takecover is a ranged defense. So it will increase your defense when being attacked from ranged attacks. So if true it may have some use against the Tuskens, but against most MOBs it's of little use.
