Trust no one that isn't in your PA. Thats my one and only rule for duels and the game in general.

I was in Moenia tonight with a guild mate who's a master fencer. Rebels had been hanging around Kadaara all night so we decided to pay them a visit. After we killed about 6 or 7 of these rebels they came back Covert and one of them offered the fencer a duel, which he accepted and won. The Commando he beat got up after the incap wore off, healed then challenged me. Now I'm pretty new to the game, 3-1-0-1 Rifleman, and had no buffs. I pretty much knew I'd lose. I put my storm tropper away and accepted. Pretty soon it was over and I was on my back. I was promptly DB'd by the Commando.

Here's the question. Would you DB someone you challenged to a duel? Personally I wouldn't do it but this commando had no problemsabout doing it to me. I was a bit surprised to be honest because my guildmate didn't DB her after he incapped her.

I'm just asking for future referrence, not to complain. If it's common practice to DB someone after a duel then fair enough.

This was on Chimeara.

Sounds like good advice. Perhaps I should be a bit more ruthless in my service to the Empire....

Unless an agreement for "no deathblows" has been made, I would assume a duel is to the death. It is fairly common to deathblow anyone of the opposite faction if you duel.

Scenario 1: Standing around in a group of 20 people of your same faction practicing dueling. Everyone has already agreed to not deathblow. You'll never be able to show your face again if you db.

Scenario 2: Standing around in war-torn Bestine when a group of opposite faction walk up and 1 challenges you to a duel. Unless an agreement for no deathblow is made, hit that sniper shot baby.

Your case is more complicated because your buddy decided not to deathblow. Don't know what to say there. Seems like she was a little out of line in db'ing you after she'd been given a 2nd chance.

Don't even assume that. Jerks still agree to no DB's and thendo it anyways. I quit dueling all together because of the lack of trust. Don't duel unless you know them. More than once I agreed to a pistol duel only to have them whip out a Flamer after I accepted and fry me. Faction players are notorious for this trick. Of course with no PvP decay it isn't so important anymore...I guess.

Yeah I get the feeling this one was one of the "jerks" you're talking about. After the DB I was kinda sitting there thinking **edit**? Then thesmack talk started coz my guildie said something to her. I was nothing, a noob, pwned etc. (Mostly true I have to admit)

Funny, I thought this was SWG not Counter Strike.

I'm not bothered about being killed in PvP, I've been overt since I made master marksman and been in some great fights. I'm just trying to get the general feelingfor what's acceptable and what's not. I guess it's no holds barred from now on.

There was a lot more class in the game's early days. Lately, many of the good players have left due to the constant nerfing, broken proffessionsand interaction with all the little jerks. People that I used to play daily with have been scarce for the past month or two.

That's why before every duel you should mention no DB. But in this case he was out for revenge and went after the weakest of the group. *not trying to offend*

Duels are technically defaulted to the death when the "no DB's" hasn't been stated beforehand. However whenever I win I always ask the guy if I should deathblow him or not. It usually works and is respected both ways, but like people have said...trust noone. It is a game on the internet, people are anonymous and therefore don't consider themselves as having to obey morality or chivalry. I've been killed a few times just because I decided to bow after challenging and lost my chance at the first shot.

I think the point is that there are people who ignore the no DB agreement even if you made one and even if they aren't revenge oriented. There is such a thing as professional griefers.

Problem is ...a lot of commando's [mainly novice] hide that fact from you and whip out the flamer only after you both go red on each other. I think the best solution is just to not duel unless its with a friend. Go fight PvP if you want to fight players.

Dont duel Commando ! Even if the guy wont DB me, I will have a strong DOT and there is always a novice medic around looking for xp that will heal me: I ll die after I told him 3 times not to
