Thread: Question about rifle stocks

I see that some rifles I can buy have stock and some don't. What are they good for? Do they have to be added at assembly time? If not, can I add one myself or do I have to have a weaponsmith do it?

Same thing applies to scopes

thanks
Chris

weaponsmiths sometimes charge more for stocks. The real difference is that a stock gives your rifle a nice increase in dmg around 30-40 i think, but it also makes your HAM go up aroud the same amount of points. They are only nice for decorative purposes and autofiring.

Forgot to mention scopes. I think they increase you overall accuracy, but not sure on the downside.

I'm an aspiring rifleman as well as a master weaponsmith...

Stocks increase damage as Marco said, but also bump HAM up like crazy.

Scopes can significantly up either wound chance or accuracy or can up the both of them somewhat. A decent scope mod'ed for accuracty will up the idea range attack by 16-20 points, up the wound chance by 6%, and all with an addition HAM of 8 for all stats.

IMO, the scopes are more efficient than the stocks by far. Especially the advanced scopes... The stocks can be good if you're into PVP where 1 shot can and usually does equal 1 kill, drilling someone in the head for 3300 points of damage is exciting

Can scopes and stocks be permanently installed on a gun after the assembly or are they powerup items?

Stocks and Scopes are installed when making the weapons. They cannot be added after the fact. And a good scope can be experimented down to 1 Ham cost so they are really no-brainers when it comes to a decision to add a scope onto a weapon.

Well this is a good question. Yes rifles can be built with stocks and scopes but not all rifles can have scopes as in the T21. Most can also have some sort of muzzle or barrel attachment as well. Stocks will give you an accuracyand damage bonus. Scopes will extend your effective range and provide a boost in accuracy. Muzzles and barrels can give change items like damage (min and/or max), range (longer or shorter), and accuracy. When built by a competent weaponsmith these rifles will prove their worth. Yes the cost for specials are high but so is the damage with these rifles.

The following links are a few pictures of the rifles I have that are equipped with a stock. The laser rifle has a scope on it and I've seen an E11, Tusken rifle, and a Jawa Ion cannon all with scopes on them. Also, I've been told that you can have the stocks added to all rifles which will boost their accuracy and damage but cost more to your ham pools.

Keep in mind that only you can see the stocks and scopes on these weapons while you have them equipped. If you place these in a building or show them in a trade window others will be able to see the stock and scope. To get the stocks and scopes to appear on the weapon or view windows your weaponsmith will have to assemble the rifle by hand. If he runs the weapon through a factory they will be installed but you will not see the visual of the stock and scope.

Are these extras worth it? To me as a master rifleman yes. I'm not worried about speed and any time I PvP I'm on the dust (muon) so ham costs don't bother me. I've recently picked up a T21 with a stock that has been sliced for damage and I run a damage power up on it for a total of 202 - 630 on damage. It does cost my ham bars a lot and even on the dust I have to pay attention to my stats; however, I'm in the business of dealing out damage and the faster I can take down my opponent the better.
