Howdy :-) First off Ive mastered all the combat professions except pistoleer...not braggin just that I re-read and noticed I jump around with the professions alot in my post.....

I would not recommend only doing part of Doc. I have tried once you get your 0240 you are going to quickly realize that it easier to find a doc to buff you than it is to find a doc that is going to sell you packs......unless of course youve got some guild docs.

I used to be a swordman/carbineer and the stacking of defenses was really amazing. That aside, there are combat changes comming. While it is all speculation at this point, def mod stacking is a hot topic right now and it has already been stated that the "unhittable" templates are going bye bye. I have decided not to try stacking defense mods for now. Also take into account -Block- is not Dodge or Counterattack. In effect its a mod that makes it easier to dmg you...it allows you to get hit but halfs the dmg....so if you stack block, guess what.... you are going to start blocking most hits and thereby taking dmg most hits.

Instead im working on a masterDoc/Rifleman....might not be King warrior elite or whatever they call it on here but being able to have endless buff/armor beats defense mods that might go *poof* next patch....plus I can cure states and rez/fullhealmy squad mates.

If you are definately going the Melee route.....give Master Brawler/rifleman a try.Warcry2 with rifleman is really incredible. And for TK power boost I found very helpful as well for the free mind buff anytime. My advice is get your rifleman and take useful skills over defense mods until the combat changes come.
