Thread: Master Rifleman Thinking about Dropping CH: Now What?

I've always enjoyed CH very much but I am thinking about dropping it and would greatly appreciate any advice you might have as to what professions I should go for.

A little background:

I am the leader of a huge guild on Gorath. We hunt and/or raid daily. Ch was great for letting everyone know what target to attack first as my gurreck would run in and make that prevalant. I figure that conceal shot would do the trick as well.

On my alone time I like to solo the toughest enemies in the game. High level nightisters are my favorite. My creatures buy me a little time, but even with the sweet BE changes, get smacked down very quickly.

I was thinking about going TKA master with dirty fighting 4 for the feign death which I was extremely fond of. Unarmed fighting is a bore to me, I'm a rifleman, dangit, but the defense mods are godly and everything in the meditation tree is just fantastic.

I was also thinking about going doc. Being able to buff would be nice, but again, it is a small cusion between me and the enemies I fight. Yes, I could migrate everything to pure mind, but one drink and two foods and I see nothing but orange -12's come up over my head instead of blue -138's.

I could master markman (waste).

There is also heavy swordsman, fencer and pikeman. Again, I would only do them for the defenses.

I enjoy pvp but only in raid situations. The ready, set, go nonsense in starports does nothing for me. I like flushing 30 people at the same time and deathblowing them all one at a time from 64 meters.

Suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Seeing as how you like to solo high level npc's why don't you try out commando. I'm a rifleman and commando inthe flame thrower tree. Maybe its just me but settin stuff on fire is just pure fun. As far as letting everyone know what target to attack in a group...well theyll all know that the burning one is the right one. I guess if you dont wanna master marksman tho then commando isnt for you. Anywho thats my suggestion for you.

I'd wait for the "new combat" system to show it's ugly face.. I think it might change a lot of things. The Rangers are hoping to get some creature to hit bonuses and such since we've been dubed the "Ultimate Creature Hunter" .. yey.. but anyway, if you like fighting high level mobs, that might help you out. Creatures only though, not NPCs.

I'd drop **edit** Handler, just because it's a silly profession. Completely un-Star Wars', the Star Wars.

Just remember... there were Gungan CH's in Episode I controlling the Fambaa's. Do you REALLY want to be compared to a Gungan?

Strength of an idea doesn't involve silly things like the truth or logic, you just make proclaimations as loudly as possible without leaving room for compromise.

If PVE is your main focus are you sure you really want to drop CH?

Pet's help alot on the PVE side and it seems BE's will be making super pets for you to purchase.

I was a 2-2-2-2 CH and I can't soloalot of the MOB's I was once able too. I could understand dropping CH if you were going to focus on PVP.

Well still heres some sugestions and why you should be each.

-Doctor, your the head of a guild, your gonna be planning raids and hunts. Since your definately going to be their your team definately has a buffer.

-TKA, you get a lot of nice things with TKA and their specials use mind.

-Ranger, You get Area track one of the funnest skills in the game, Camo kits, and high effectiveness while using traps(P-Darting a Kimo and having it stick sounds good to me.)

CM's are like nukes. You have them just incase you need them, but as soon as you start using yours the other guys start using theirs and everything goes to hell-PyschoticChipmunk -The First line of the Riflenomican.

master rifleman/ch trying to figure out what to replace this useless ass CH profession with.

Im leaning towards tka because they are the new uber class, but Im going to wait untill after the COMPLETE combat revamp later in the month. Im really scared about this new ultra-nerf.....

Creature handler is great when you want to level and when you want to tank mid level stuff like grauls and rancors while you hit them with your little pistol. I do up to 8700 damage with my krayt 35% damage sliced T21, so from 64m, a pack of 4 rancors will be dead long before they get in range of hitting me while I flushing shot 2 the heck out of them. And I don't fight little guys like that anymore.

The AI has improved significantly. Send your pets in against 5 npc's, wait for them to settle into your pets and start firing. That used to be fine and dandy, but now the 4 that your creatures arent attacking come after you. Also, try something small like a nightsister spellweaver. She uses her force powers twice and your bio engineered 12K ham 60% kinetic whatever drops like a bad habbit and comes at you with 85% of her life left. Try a high level force crystal guy. POOF, they go in flames like they weren't even there. Your pet may have bought you enough time to bleed, jump on your bike and run screaming.

Pets certainly have their place in this game, just not in my world. And this is sad because I enjoyed CH for so long. It's time to take it to the next level.

I have decided to go TKA. The defensive bonuses for fencer are much better but the meditation tree and the dirty fighting line in smuggler (feign death)are what sealed the deal for me. I do not plan to ever pull out my VK's (with rare exceptions).

So when I'm done my routine will be: conceal shot, they are resistant to it or I by some act of god miss twice in a row, switch to bleeds then strafe2 or mindshot, kite, they come in close, prepare feign death, feign death fails, I use force of will and feign again, they hoover over my body while I play dead, I warcry, knock em down and run like hell. Something like that. Bottom line, I will be able to survive a lot more often in hairy situations and I am always in hairy situations.
