First off I am a rifleman by choice, not a holo grinder. Ive heard people in the forums say that they make bleed by spamminghead shot1 & 2, I think. Ive been doing that and nothing is bleeding. Oh and another thing,, I like to use overcharge shot sometimes when firing. With it I do like 2000 dmg. Why have I not heard anyone else using this? ANd one more thing, rifleman training from PC is hard to find. Us riflemen are a rare breed on ahazi, from what I can tell.

mind shot is your bleed tool, ms1 is tier 4 on the marksman tree, and ms2 i think is a tier 1, cant remember which branch.

useMS1, follwed by a MS 2 this will cause approx a 600-1400 bleed for MS1 and 700-1800 for MS2 which will hit your opponent every 30 seconds or so.

if you get a low bleed number, use it again untill you get a high one, it only ever uses the highest bleed applied.

MS1 lasts for something like 6 bleeds and ms2 is 9 bleeds, so after you see the MS1 hit the 6th time, use ms1 on it again, same for ms2.

one other thing, mindshot does not take account of armor piercing, i tend to find lazers make a better mindshot tool because of this, but it does depends on the server.

and these are rough numbers, ive not looked up exact ones.

Let's see.... Mind Shot is definately the one you need. MS2 is in the first tier of the Sniper tree of Rifleman.

Bleeds tick off every 20 seconds I believe.

As for OverchargeShot, I do use it on occassion. Usually when I am in a group killing big stuff and most of the group cannot target the mind pool. Since OverchargeShot is a random pool attack with a decent damage modifier, it helps bring things down faster. Course, you don't want to use a gun that you are too attached to as the shot causes your weapon to decay at a faster rate.

A bleed won't happen instantly. If you kill the it too quickly, you'll never see the bleed....

Be aware that people on many forums are occasionally reporting getting random minor bleeds from non-bleed shots. This is likely due to the wounds caused by the weapons, not the shot itself. So it is possible to get a bleed with Headshots, but there is no way to do it consistently, and the bleed that occurs is usually quite small. So do not get confused with this oddity. Mindshot1 and Mindshot2 are definitely the bleed shots for Rifle.

There were some tentative comments regarding how bleeds work. WayneInAustin put up an excellent description of the process. That thread, I believe, can be found in the FAQ thread.

But in summary, bleeds work as follows:

The initial bleed hit will show a number over the head of the target and in the combat window. This number will ignore armor and resistance factors, and causes no initial damage. However, the number is recorded as the size of the bleed, and the bleed timer is set in motion. Thereafter, every 20 seconds, the bleed timer will expire and the bleed damage will occur. Mindshot1 will last for 2 minute (6 bleeds) and Mindshot2 will last for 3 minutes (9 bleeds). Mindshot1 and Mindshot2 will stack (both can be active at the same time). Only the highest bleed of each will count, so if you get a low bleed, reapply the shot and hope for a bigger hit.

Other bleeds will also stack with these. For instance, 2H Sword bleeds, Mindhit1 and Mindhit2, will stack with the Rifle mind bleeds, to get 4 bleeds on the mind pool.

Also for some annoying reason whenever a bleed ticks off the creature will always aggro you no matter how well covered/hidden/camoflaged you are.

Can anyone tell me why this is? I would guess its because otherwise you could just camp and MS1&2 a target until its dead meaning easy money without it aggroing you, but I think making it aggro you on say the third bleed would be far more reasonable...

Anyway...

Sorcey,

Back in the 'old' days when bleeds could kill, there were three imporantzones as relating to bleeds. At 0m - 64m where you are in range to shootand the critter would aggro on you with the bleed. From 65 - about 80m where you would still get credit for the critter if it died, but it would not aggro on you. And finally, beyond 80m where if you were this far out when it died, you would get no credit for the kill. The trick was to get the bleed on, but be in that narrow middle zone while it bled. As long as you got some normal damage on it before it died, you would get credit. Thus, you could rush back up to range before the last bleed hit to get some real damage on it if you did not get some earlier.

However, this was tricky because that was only a 15m buffer. It did not take much for it to wandera dozen meters or so in one direction or the other and suddenly you were in range and aggroed, or beyond 80m and in danger of losing the kill.

Since they put in the change where bleed cannot kill the critter, the aggro range on the bleed is, for all practical purposes, as far as you can see it. I have been out as far as 120m and it still aggroed on me. However, at that distance (say 100 - 120m), it is still possible that it will not aggro on you from time to time. Not enough to make it predictable, but it can happen. However, at that distance as well, two bleed cycles will tick off before the critter gets to you, so depending on the critter, it may be half dead before it gets there.

There is one reasonably consistent way to get it to not aggro on you. atleastsometimes. However it can be expensive. For some reason when the bleeds hit, there is a good chance that the critter will aggro on your vehicle or mount. I have had them run past me to get my ride some 60m behind me and run 180 degrees in the opposite direction to kill my bike parked 150m away from the lair. It is a little expensive, but you can avoid them aggroing on you some timesthis way if it is really that important to you. hehe.
