I have heard that if you use grenades, they give pure combat xp. THere are a couple of kinds that you find in loot drops. I have about 100 at my house that I looted and never used. You can also buy them if you can find them on vendors. Some dont require any certs.

I think they are rather weak, and you would use them on lower level MOBs. Search for posts on grenades. It may be that if you use mind bleeds with grenades ONLY you get pure combat XP.

Hope this leads you to some better info...

C12's are the grenades to go with as anybody can use them and any low level weaponsmith can make you a crate. Good luck with the grind; that line was the worst part of making master.

Grenades are definitely the way to go. C12s, as mentioned, do not require certs. But don't just go out and start throwing grenades. There is a trick to doing it quickly.

Hit the target with Mindshot1 and Mindshot2 to set bleeds, then go peace. Kite the critter until it is down to 1 point of mind. Then one grenade (if it hits) will kill it. If you do this right, you will get 100% of the XP for the creature as Combat XP, and you do not go through a lot of grenades.

This works because Grenades give all Combat XP. The bleeds will not count towards the XP division, so because the grenade did 100% of the non-bleed damage,100% of the XP for that creature will be Combat XP. In fact, if the creature would normally give you 1000 Rifle and 100 Combat (you always get 10% of the total as Combat XP), you will see it say you got 1000 Combat XP and 100 Combat XP for a total of 1100 Combat XP for the kill.

Things to watch out for:

1. Hit it only with bleeds and grenades. If you hit it with even a normal shot because you did not go peace in time, the XP will be divided between the rifle and grenades.

2. Grenades have a blast radius. If you are within the radius because you threw it while too close to the critter, you can damage yourself. Be careful.

3. Do not get the critter too far from the spawn point because it may despawn on you. This is frustrating when it happens just before you throw the grenade, and you have to start over.

4. Store your ride or kitethe critterwhile riding. Bleeding creatures have a nasty habit of aggroing on your mount rather than you.

I would hit with the bleeds, move 100 - 120m from the creature and wait for it to aggro. By the time it can make that distance, it will usually have bled twice. Stay far enough ahead that it cannot get to you, but not too far away. Probably best to stay within 60 - 100m of the original spawn point.

One last thing. You may want to do this on creatures more within the 1k XP range rather than 3kish criters like Picketts. Picketts will take 4 - 5 bleed ticks to get to one point of damage, that is a lot of time for it to catch up to you or to decide to despawn. Critters that yield 1k XP normally will take less ticks to get to one point of damage, so they will be easier to kill. At 1100 Combat XP per, that is only 18 critters or so to finish it off. That is two to three missions max.
