hi all........just to cut to the chase, yes im a holo chaser, but let me make one thingclear b4 u all flame heh

ive done ID as my first, musician as my 2nd, and for the whole week it took me stuck in the cantina bored off my head (i only went afk 3 times in the whole period i was in there) i sat there wishing my next holo would be one of my 2 choices.

my first was rifleman and 2nd combat medic.

purely cos when i first started the game my choice combat proff was either pistoleer or rifleman - i went pistoleer.
the whole time ive been dying to try out rifleman, and when i opened my 3rd holo i couldnt believe my luck - YOU MUST MASTER RIFLEMAN!!!!!! heh result or what!!!

anyway, after such nasty nasty grind, ive decided to take my time and actually enjoy rifleman, learn it, see what does what, and so far i think its very nice. im currently 0/0/0/2 as i had bags of combat ex already from pistoleer. so far ive done everything to keep master pistoleer, and if rifleman gets better n better, its more than likley ill go back to it, for a nice long range, up close combination.

anyway to cut my wafling in half, have any of u got any tips, i dont wanna grind, i dont want xp fast, i just wanna know what are the best skills to have fun with, what works...etc, any tips ppl....

thanks all

It's hard to enjoy your time as a novice rifeman because you can't do anything but power-grind. Mastering rifleman is when you can enjoy your time, but until then it will cause sleepless nights and doubtless times. It's worth the time btw.

From the time I first rolled my Toon I knew I wanted to be a Rifleman.. So here I am

If you like to Grouphunt then I'd say get to 0-0-3-2 as fast as you can.. the Area attack you get in the 3rd Counter-sniping box goes great guns with PVE Group Hunts.

If you like to Solo a lot I'd say give conceal shot a go and get some accuracy from the first line of the Rifleman Tree ( Sniping Accuracy ). The better your Accuracy the less you will miss with conceal shot and the less MOBS will aggro you.

Just a note though, there have been a couple of people complaining that Conceal shot has been aggroing mobs alot so there may have been some "stealth" changes to the skill where it works better as you get closer to Master Sharpshooter.

Have fun!

wow thanks ppl, much appreciated.

I know what you mean about its hard at novice, ive been sat there thinking, man, i miss all the time, when i snipe they see me so they just aggro and i miss even more at close range etc etc heh

but then yesterday i got sniper 1, the mind bleed shot, and its turned into a different ball game.
no matter the mob, i get within range, use either the laser or t21 to fire a mind bleed, then imediately follow it up with 2 head shot 2's, by the third hit the first mind drain has come into action and their mind is about half way, then they aggro. (btw ive been hunting quenchers on dant) then i switch to the sg or the iwon rifle and take on close combat. im gettin about 25k ish every 10 mins doin that method.

ive also been reading alot of your posts about take cover etc, and really, even if i use it they still aggro after the 3rd hit, so might aswell save mind heh.

anyway, finishing work early today to try out your methods *halo

anymore tips....keep em coming!!!!

Obtain ConcealShot as soon as you can. I've been completing missions from the starport mission terminal on Lok for around 9500 credits. Each mission seems to consist of 2 - 3 humanoids/droideka or a lair of creatures, and the rifle experience for each kill ranges from approximately 2,500 - 5,000. I've only been on Lok a short while.

I use a T21 at 60m - 64m (even though most of the targets have a special protection against energy) and take the targetsout one by one. Most of these targets are red or yellow /con to me (7k HAM - 11k HAM). Recently, I ran out of Muon Gold. So, when my Mind was low I would /peace, /sit, rest up, /prone, continue with /concealshot. The targets stay still most of the time, though I've had to move around a lot on one of the salt mynock lairs that was situated on the side of a cliff. It's good experience for me and I won't be looking for another area anytime soon.

Ifinally becamea Master Doctor yesterday, but I've been soloing these missions without buffs and drugs. So, bring some spice and foodto Lok and you should have it relatively easy, as long as you play smart. You may want to practice your novice skills on a planet you're familiar with, and then head for Lok once you're comfortable. I was 2-2-0-1 when I first started soloing on Lok, though I just gained Rifle Abilities II today.

What has been said is good advise, so I will not expand on it other than to say welcome and to reiterate that the real enjoyment of this profession comes at Master. The difference between Master and Novice in this profession is probably greater than any other profession in the game. Stick with it, and you will enjoy it.

I wouldn't really bother using "Take Cover", it's pretty useless unless you are fighting ranged opponents. It only boosts your ranged defences I believe. Plus you have to be Prone to use it which means theres all the more chance of the MOB charging right up to you before you can stand up.

Oh and if you are using mind Bleeds, make sure you Stack Mindshot1 and Mindshot2 for the Double Whammy
