Thread: what can a marksman 2/0/0/4 can solo ?
Hi, i tryed to group but i do mind damage .. and i get very little xp while in group. my rifle is a laser rifle speed 8.0 damage 35 372. And honestly i do more damage with overshot1 than headshot1 =(
should i try to get another rifle ? if so wich one, and should i seek speed or damage at this level ? thanks you in advance for any suggestion and tips.
hehe... you have to bear with it...
Carbines have the same problem... they target action... just use regular shots...
In all honesty, your gun could be better.... but its not the problem. The problem is that you just don't have hte skills yet... once you get rifle4 and get mindshot1 and headshot2, you will notice that in a group you will do about as much damage to the target as a small group...
however, you pay a huge penalty... your mind gets used up fast so you have to conserve shots... just use regular firing for now... Overcharge shot kills your weapon each time it fires
your condition gets eaten up... but if you plan on getting a new gun later...
Kill your current gun by OC'ing as much as possible to level faster in a group...
Then just keep having fun... honestly in most cases, groups like riflemen... b/c in cases where your fighting other groups of trying to do the most damage... to get the loot, like on Krayts... you target a bar they can't... meaning you add to the total amount of damage the group does in a totally different way meaning your group has a more diverse range and bettter chance of getting the loot...
I hope that helps.

you can get a spraystick under 2.0 secs farely easily. its not nearly as powerfull but it might help. i would suggest an e11 or a jawa ion rifle. you can even find lasers for around 5.0 spd easily within ur price range.
btw: cant remember where these weapons certifications are on the tree so some may not be able to work for you
Assuming capable weaponsmiths on your server, and a reasonably good slice, you should be able to find laser rifles with stats near 40-400 at 4.0 seconds, which will help your damage a lot.
Yes, if you're grouping, for general purpose killing, I'd just go with the default auto-attack, since it's more likely to contribute damage that will help the damage being done by others. Faster, too, of course.
The key to soloing with a rifle is to find non-aggro stuff, white, maybe yellow con, and go prone at about 50-60 meters, you should get 3-4 'free' shots before it aggros. With a good damage rifle, that's often enough to kill it. If not, well, you'll get up close, and take some damage, unless you're also a scout and can use a snare trap on it to move back out of range. Scout/Rifleman is quite good for creature fighting, because of that capability.
well in some ppls mind this isn't true soloing. but get yourself a nice CL10 pet. have a MCH tame and train one for you. use the guard command for it. hunt thecreatues in the above post and your pet will attack once you pick up and agro. it won't help alot because it has a low HAM of its own. but it will give you a few more seconds, thats all you really should need.
for a true solo. get yourself 2 new guns, a better laser rifle, and a spray stick. get them both sliced (if you are lucky you'll get speed for the laser and damage for the spraystick, but if any type pf slice will help). put each rifle in your hot keys. use the laser rifle from 60m untill you pick up an agro, then switch to the spaystick and fire off a couplesurpression fire or warning shots. that should stop the creature or make it turn around. switch back to the laser rifle and start auto firing.
a fewmore things get a good set of ubese armor (its not too expensive), and some powerups speed/mind are good (3k for a crate on radiant). or some min/max damage ones. once you get in the Rifleman tree you'll be taking more food/drugs/drinks. another thing to do is make friends with someone trying to master dancer/musician (they usually give free buffs for exp, but tip them somethingif you can).
rifles were he hardest to level up while i was doing marksman. but once you start getting higher in the rifleman tree's the profession really rules. at master the first time you get in a fight it'll blow your mind (in more ways than one).
hope this helps,

Tamed CL10 pets are horrible now, bio-engineered ones are much better.
Speed is more important than damage at low levels and 8.0 is horrible for a laser rifle. Get an E11 or speed-sliced laser, the damage/HAM ratioon spraystick isn't very good and its lack of armor piercing hurts.
Grey gabaki, muon, corellian ice cream, fishak, and other mind/focus buffs help a lot with the HAM costs.
yea i know the HAM sucks now but what hes going to be killing they should still take at least 4 per creature. i am MCH and i should have been more specific. yes BE's make ubber cl 10 pets that are better than any cl 25 pet, but thats useing bugged DNA. plus they cost like 90k (on radiant). i was thinking along the lines of a kaduu, which also gives him a mount. but there are still wildlvl 10 pets that have 1k HAM and 25% kin res. which is all he should need at 2/0/0/4 marksman.

1) It's all about speed then. You want as muchdamage per second as you can get. your not going to be oneshoothing anything for a while. I'd suggest a speed sliced laser rifle and 33% speed 16% Min Damage Power up to tightend up the damage range.
2) Get a Rifleman mentor to hunt with you and stack bleeds. Guilds are really helpful for this. I got all the marksman in my guild through rifles no problem doing that.
3) Get pet tanks, either yours or someone else.
4) Abuse suppression fire, burst run and static objects/harvesters in the game world. Keep your map up at all times. You can solo fambaas on Naboo if you just keep stuff in between them and you all the time. Make the AI have to constantly adjust it's pathing. It gets confused and buys you more time.
at the least slap some nice powerups on that gun.
8.0 sec for a laser is way too slow.
You can solo anything white or even yellow. If you become good at kiting say you have some scouting skill or are a CM you can kill reds. If you get good enough at kiting you can even take the Dark Jedi missions solo (although it is a pain and I don't reccommend it)
.I find Rifleman even at low levels in PvE to be very rewarding. Your bleeds and headshot can drop most mobs in that 60m range before they spot you (provided you are prone). Also in groups you can use strafeshot for supporting fire. In my experience it seems faster than headshot (especially 3) and it will take points off of those Health and Action bars. That helps me get some group exp without wasting time with attcks that only provide damage that is contrary to what the rest of the group is doing. My exp take seems to increase and the mobs drop quicker that if you empty your skill on mind shots. I am only a 2/0/0/0 rifleman myself as I use it for support fire to beef up my CM diseases and poisons. But whatever reason you take up rifleman you will find that it is very rewarding either by itself or as a support class for any other skill set you happen to master.
I hope that helps you some.
