Rifleman Archive
Thread: Old question, but I need advice.
Hey guys, i'm pursuing Rifleman not because of Holo's but because I want to be a rifleman.
So any advice on which tree to do first or which special to get first would be greatly appreciated. Also, is the T-21 better than the laser rifle? I mastered pistoleer on another server and realized that the DX2 sucked big time so i never used it, just wondering if rifleman has the same problem. Thanks, all posts are welcome.
I believe a good route to take is to get 0-1-0-0 first. This will give you Conceal shot which you can use to effectively gain XP. Next work up the Counter-Sniping line to get 0-1-3-0. This will get you Flushing Shot 2 which I believe is the firstArea Attack shot. With it you can take down multiple creatures at a time if you have group members or a pet tank for you. You can use it without a tank on lower level creatures.
I found my experience increasing dramatically once I got Flushing shot. This is just my experience though. I am sure others have followed another path succesfully as well.
I would recommend either 1-0-0-x or 0-1-0-x first, then pickup the other one. Then go to 1-1-4-x then 4-1-4-x then 4-4-4-x. The fourth line, Rifle Speical Abilities, is all Combat XP, so you will be picking it up as you go.
The reasoning here is that 1-x-x-x gives you Mindshot2 and x-1-x-x gives you Concealshot. Mindshot2 can be stacked with Mindshot1 to get a double bleed on the mind pool. Concealshot is slow, but it will allow you to solo creatures that you may not otherwise be able to kill without a trip to the cloning vats. Both of these tools will allow you to move up the tree to get to x-x-3-x for Flushingshot2, which is the second best Area Effect shot we have (next to Strafeshot2 at Master).
2-x-x-x gives you Headshot3, but its additional HAM costs do not justify the extra damage that it does over Headshot2.3-x-x-x gives you gives you a little more damage than Concealshot, but does not keep creatures from aggroing on you like Concealshot does. And 4-x-x-x gives you Snipershot, which is only useful in PvP. Thus, it is generally considered that the accuracy bonues in Sniping Accuracy can wait until you get Flushingshot2. x-1-x-x gives you Concealshot, but Sneak is the only other major benefit from that line, and since Sneak only allows you to move while in TakeCover and since TakeCover is generally considered to be more trouble than it is worth, it can wait until last.
Thanks guys, after reading these, i've decided to get conceal shot and the first box of aiming, then get flushing shot 2 , after that i'll do the aiming tree and so on. Thanks again =)
I'm at work and forget what shots are where. That would help if you want advice. I know I went 4-0-0-0 first. Then 4-0-4-0 (well I just got the forth line as it came), 4-4-4-0, then 4444
I'm very task oriented so I went all the way on each before going on. I'd probably do it a little different now.
i was told to go 0-4-0-(?) , do that so u have a great conceal shot. then go 0-4-4-(?) the 4-4-4-(?)
i kinda went off track and right now i am 1-2-0-1 i kinda wanted mind shot 2 so i could stack the bleeds but i am goin up the conceal tree now and then i may go up the first column cause i am a BIG PvPer and i really wanna get goin with snipershot ![]()

I did 400x then 414x. I never really used concealshot (bleed and kite was faster and less boring), and I also wanted sniper shot early on for PVP. I only used flushing2 and other AOE attacks to clear weak mobs in my way (mauler camp on my harvesters); I don't wear armor and didn't have a decent tank so I got killed too much when I used AOE on lairs of decent exp things.
T21 is not very effective until high levels because it's slow, inaccurate, and has higher HAM than the laser. Use a speed-sliced laser or E11 until xxx4 or master, especially if you're going to use bleed and kite or AOE attacks.
