Rifleman is great from long distance......until someone notices you and comes a running within your range. But what if you can keep them at range to the point you wont even get touched??? (not for PvP)

I'm trying to go the angle of being CH/Master Rifleman?? Using the Pets to attack up close and occupy the Taget and keep its mind of you while Absolutly pummeling the target from your 50-60 meters range. With buffs and the Pets....medic should not even be neccessary, cuz you should not even get looked at much less touched.....

Now in PvP i think the same concept could work vs the Unarmmed players but you would have to run alot to stay away from them. And if they are running at you, trying to get to you.......your pet keeps chugging away at them. So they either have to try to defeat the pet first, while you are shooting them.....or they have to try to attack you while the pet keeps killing them.....and while you keep killing them while running away. I am not strong enough to be PvP yet, so im not able to test this theory......but i'm thinking this has a chance to work quite well??

Has anyone else thought about this or done it?? If so let me know how it has worked. Cuz i dont' wanna waste the time grinding if it turns out to be a bust....

CH/Rifleman is one of the more popular combinations. I am personally working in that direction. For PvE, it works like a charm. But from what I have heard, especially with the recent CH nerfage, PvP with pets is pretty useless.

i'm one on scylla.. see my sig.

great combo for pve... pvp can be enhanced if you select your pets carefully, but you wouldn't be as good as some other MRM-? combos

In PvP, currently Pets are useless, I have tried many combos of pets. Depending on How many PC's you are fighting of course. My pets are blown away and Burnt to a crisp most of the time for Vitality hits, with little or no damage to the PC. They dont even usually bother hitting the pets until I am down. Hopefully that changes.... It is getting to the point I do not Use my pets in PvP, I dont' like to see them die

ya know what? i was a pre-nerf Low level CH for my rifle grind, i used a GSP. after my grind i dropped CH all-together and never looked back.

yeah, it's nice to have a pet tank. but you can do far better and have FAR more fun if you have tank skills yourself. I would suggest mastering both Rifle and a melee toon. the best tank is Fencer, overall. but TKM is also very good and is probably the best pvp brawler, on average, or go 2hand sword and deal mind dmg, or pike for stacking our broken block. lol.

overall i would highly recommend Fencer as it's an amazing tank and you can deal more than just kinetic dmg (stun dmg). if you want KD's, powerboost/meditate, and slightly better *kinetic* dmg, go TKM. either way, you can't lose!

currently i'm master rifle, master fencer, tka 0103, medic 2000, marksman 4003 (soon to drop support line for more tka). i tell ya, even just holding my rifle with a bunch of pikets on me, i get hit once in a blue moon. (+163 melee defense, +175 ranged defense). it's much more fun, and a much better tanking option than CH could ever be.

oh, and as suggested, CH is useless in pvp

Thanks for all the info......

I was also thinking about going fencer or tk for if something got up close instead of the CH.....but what lead me to CH was it's "kewlness" factor..... Finding pets and training them.

But due to the fact my main goal later down the road is to be a good PvP opponent i should go with what works there.........and it obviosly is not a CH!!

so on to Fencer or TK, and Master rifleman............take care all, see you on the playing field.

CH/Rifleman is great for me:Pet makesa good temp "root" for socials while the cone attacks cull the herd. I'm a hunter and make a living off of selling organics. PvP I could see better combo's instead, as a pet is not going to help much there.

On another note........i think ill keep my CH for a while while i let my hand to hand combat exp rise. Using the Pets as bait while i get free hits and exp on the creatures. Then as i get stronger ill start eltting CH dissapate and soon to nothing..... As my Fencing or TK gets higher....the CH will go away....

I think this is a great solution to my desire of being a good PvP........thanks for the input to all.....before the grind got too serious

I agree with Jeisyn, a MRM melee combo is alot more fun than pets.

I also was a CH for part of the rifle grind, made the switch and never regreted it. (OK, i regret losing my crazed durni Bunbun, he was a chick magnet )

I did go a different path for melee. After tring 2h sword, i went for TKM. The biggest benefit is the meditation line in that profession. The power boost is a mini buff (half your mind stat) and the ability to stand up from an incap (once an hour) is priceless at times. The defenses are also very nice.

My current ranged/melee defenses are not as high as Jeisyn's, but high enough that i do not get hit that often. If the PvP opponent is not a master of an elite/hybrid class with their full accuracy bonus, they will miss much more than they hit.

The other problem with pets is the time factor. vehicles have really sped up the game, and tring to herd pets is a pain.

if your going CH rifle which was my specialty until i got 4 holocrons for xmas, your going to want some medic skills. being able to drop 6k of healing in 10 seconds is a real benefit when fighting hi-powered monsters.

and yes you WILL get hit as a CH. on occasion monsters will come after you instead of your pet and if you cant heal while running something big will give you an all expense paid tour through it's digestive tract.

will i go back to rifle/ch?? i dont know yet. my focus after opening my jedi slot will be hunting down and killing jedi. maybe i will go rifle/BH invest3/medic not sure yet. my jedi slot will be there for hunting the jedi that make it past the initiate level. once a jedi makes padawan BH just cant take them out unless they are AFK or LD.

whatever i do after this skill shake up will probably involve rifle to some degree depending on exactly what changes the combat system brings and how soon my FSCS opens up.

hi

been master ch / master rifleman / 4030 medic for a long time

rocks in PvE, kinda sucks in PvP. basically i die in a single shot most of teh time. so only time i survive is if i take out my target before he/she can notice and target me.

or i should sya, used to.

game is extremely boring so i quit.
