Thread: My Lord, Master Rifleman Rocks
It took me about 5 months of casual grind, but I finally made it a few days ago... All I can say is "wow."
I cannow standdefiantlyagainstgroups ofmobs solo, mobsthat used to (when I faced justONE at a time)make me pee my pants. My sheer destructive force is the envy of all my friends.
I have noticed a bug recently though, and I was wondering if any of you have experienced it... Occasionally (seems to happen mostly while attacking large groups), when I use an AoE, instead of doing 2-4k damage to ALL the mobs, it's as if the game collects all that damage and dumps it onONE target.
This is quite impressive, especially when I do 20k+ damage to one mob in one shot (and my group craps their pants in awe), but kind of annoying when the same shot should have killed the entire group in one shot (i.e., all the mobs have been worked down to 2k ham).
Also, have you guys noticed that when using an AoE, if you have a bunch of shots queued up on your target and your AoE kills a mob that isn't the mob your targeting, your combat queue clears? I find this quite annoying.
Overall though, I'm quite pleased with Master. ![]()
My T21 fires at an unbelievable rate now. I'm just loving everything about this!! Next step...more PvP.

What are the stats on your T21?
20k hit sounds nice!!
I'm still working my way up the rifleman tree 2,3,0,4 and loving every minute of it so far.
i have had people tell me not to bother taking rifle profession and that its not worth it, then i read a post like this and cant figure out why someone would say rifle profession isnt good.

Why are you doing concealment tree first? You should have gone xx3x first for Flushing Shot2... It would have made your climb up the other trees a whole lot more fun and faster. Oh well, wish I'd caught you earlier with that info... Concealment tree offers the least (after 0100) and is generally done last.
I have not noticed the massive damage boost. However it is a known fact that the first AoE only hits your target and just agroes its buddies. And only the subsequent AoE shots actually hit the group.

Actually i was doing the sniper tree, but i wanted the sneak skill and the ranged mitigation after i took the headshot3 box. I was told block skill doesnt really work, so i figured sniper was the first tree i should get. Didnt realise flushing was that helpful?
any other tips?
I just made master rifleman last weekend, I'm glad I did it does rock ![]()
No T21's on chimaera yet, but i'm doing well with the E11, Ion Rifle and Laser Rifle. Superb!

You may already know this by now, but just in case...
Flushing Shot2from the 0.0.3.0 boxis your first powerful Area of Effect (AoE) shot. That is, each shothits MULTIPLE TARGETS as if you had shot each one of them individually! And it is fairly strong (4x damage? dont remember for sure).
Now there are a couple of things to know about AoE shots. They fire in a pie shaped area (cone) in front of you for the full 64m. Also, it wont damage an animal that is NOT in combat with you, but it will piss them off and MAKE them enter combat with you if they are in that area.
For example: If there are three Pikets around the nest in front of youand only one of them is currently coming after you, if you fire Flushing Shot 2, you will damage him but not the other two. HOWEVER, your shot will anger them so then they come after you also. Your SECOND Flushing Shot 2 will now damage ALL THREE of them. Sorry for all the capital letters.. just trying to emphasize the important points.
So you have to be careful: Say you want to damage all the Pikets in front of you and you are ignoring all the Voritor Lizards standing 30m behind the lair. If you fire FS2 to hit the Pikets, any Voritor Lizards that are within 64m are going to get mad and come after you also. Ooops!

cool, i didnt realise the AoE was that strong and excellent explanation....especially the part about the lizards behind the pickets, that would have been quite a surprise the first time i used that and other things start attacking that i wouldnt have wanted to aggro yet.
haha luckily i got my xp last night for conceal 3 and had to log before training, ill just throw that into flushing shot and pickup a couple boxes tonight first thing.

Youngin,
*buzzer sound*
I am sorry. That is not the correct answer, and you should have phrased it as a question.
But seriously, you are correct that we normally cannot do that kind of damage. However, what he is describing is a known bug. I have seen it discussed in another forum, so it is not just us. It affects area effect shots under certain circumstances, but even though it is not consistent (won't happen every time), it is repeatable. I believe from what I have read elsewhere, it also only happens in certain places.
What happens, I believe, is this. You target a creature in the midst of a group of 5, and fire an area effect attack. You hit one for 2k damage, one for 3.5k, one for 3k, one for 4k, and the last for 2.5k. Now, instead of allocating the damage dealt to each creature, what happens is that the targeted creature takes 2 + 3.5 + 3 + 4 + 2.5 = 15k damage. So if you target a large enough group and/or you get good damage rolls, 20k is certainly within the realm of possibilities.
However, note that this is a bug, and that I would expect the behavior to change soon.
congrats
I am soooooo close I can taste it (29k combat exp to go)
