Thread: Even the Bounty Hunters know it
So why cant the DEV's figure it out. post from BH Forum:
I've actually been pretty surprised how underpowered BH seems. Back when I was master smuggler/pistoleer I owned everything. The combo of panic shot and low blow gave me a great advantage. As I am now (2/2/4/2, not bad for a days work
), the only weapons I find useful are my krayt scatter and krayt FWG5.
I've always found carbines to be the second most useless weapons in the game, next to rifles, and if my LLC would hit more than once every 5 shots it would be a useful weapon. Granted I'll probably have a different outlook once I hit master, but as it is now, I miss my pistoleer.
Thoughts??????
just take pistol and eye shot spam like everyone else?
No, no.
Use fire/KD until your opponent goes down. Then depending on what stat pool have been hit, use eyeshot or an LLC to finish the job.
Spamming eyeshot is for n00bs ![]()
I think this is the only guy you will hear say that. Look on the other boards, almost every one of them thinks Rifleman is overpowered. If anyone thinks rifleman is useless, they are clueless.
Ohh... I was about to say that you posted on the wrong board ![]()
Well.. I mean..there's pistols, rifles, and carbines.. so he's saying that he thinks pistols are #1, Rifles #2 and Carbines #3...
I think it's prefrence.. I love the rifle and I'm not even master yet. I think I liked carbine better than pistol though... I only went master marksman so who knows how I would've felt if I went pistoleer and carbineer.
i've fought three different kinds of bounty hunters.
1. the pistoleer/eyeshot stacker. piece of cake - i haven't lost to one of these in a long time.
2. the Master Bounty hunter who only relies on pistols - similar to #1, very unlikely that i would lose.
3. the Master Bounty Hunter who knows what tools he has at his disposal, and knows when to 'use'em. this guys is tough.
I have +77 defense to knockdown, +80 defense to posture down, and +186 ranged defense, and +95 rifle speed. I was in a stat migration the other day, going from a doc buff template to a slightly more balanced pool, so i had only 400 health/action/secondaries, and a lot of mind. i popped a Breath of heaven to keep ham costs down across the board (as ham costs can kill me faster than the 'typical' opponent, when i'm not buffed) and i engaged with a fully buffed and composite wearing master bounty hunter.
his weakest pool was mind so i went for his composite-covered head with my jawa rifle, relying on my ranged defense to keep me alive long enough to tear down his 1200 point mind. at a range of about 35m we started blasting.
remembering from my combat log: He opened with a sprayshot, which missed, the second one hit for a couple hundred points of dmg, effectively killing half my health. Ihad hit him with a few master headshots by now and was doing nicely. Then he goes for a charge shot, i think one or two missed, all of a sudden i'm knocked down! holy crap. TKM's haven't been able to knock me down since finishing my template, i'm surprised.
I stand right backup without problem, unfortunately my meager ham is extremely low and before i could do anything about it, another charge shot comes through to finish me off (his charge shot seemed to be doing about 200-something points of damageif i remember correctly).
Had i been buffed as he was, it would likely have been a different story- I think i had taken about half his mind before being incapped.
I congratulated him on his victory, and told him that i was surprised to be knocked down. He mentioned he had +200 accuracy with his carbine...woot!
now, with special abilities and accuracy like that -i dunno...seems like the profession is working pretty well whenit can not only hit, but KD an extremely defensive template... BH is more than eyeshot/pistols.
Jeisyn,
I believe Charge shot is a carbineer skill. Also, I think it's KD is borked in that it doesn't take defenses into account properly, not to mention it is not on a timer. Other than that, yes, eyeshot BH's usually do not scare me, it's when I see a carbine in their hands that I worry.
good to know, skeletor.
I had heard about the carbine KD bypassing defenses and without timer... when hesaid he had +200 carbine accuracy i figured that was just enough to hit me accurately and drop me. /shrug
anyone know if Fire KD works the same (bypassing defenses?) - chances are it's not, as i've yet to be knocked down by any BH except this one, who was using carbineer specials with BH accuracy stacks, it seems.

Charge shot does not bypass defense. It is, however, a kd that is not on a timer. Before dropping medic and going up the Carbine accuracy tree, I dueled a Pistoleer/Fencer/Rogue and out of 30+ shots (I had MBH, 0002 Carbines, Novice Med at the time), I landed 0 while he was in CoB. That was with 125 Carbine Accuracy. With 180, I can hit and land shots quite often.
