Thread: How do i keep my rifle in good condition?
I just wonder that... Cause i play on infinity and there arent any rifles there! The best you can find is in about 300 in max dmg, ofcorse it´s a lazer. I have never seen a T21 there.
But how do i keep it in good condition? A friend tipped me to get it repaird when it drops to about 70% but then the con always goes down, so now my rifle is at 515 instead of 910 when i bought it for some days ago. I use 94% weapon repair tools.
It´s annoying to have to go and find a weaponsmith in the middle of a hunt... and you have to repair it alot have i noticed.
Any suggestions?

(Love that name, BTW). You cannot stop your weapons from decaying. The only thing you can do is get the most out of them before you have to lose them. If you have never had a weapon break, this is what will happen:You will use a 'weapon repair tool' on a weapon and the tool will report that "The weapon has broken to pieces in your hand." or something like that. It will still be in your inventory, but the stats are ZERO.
There are certain situations that make that broken weapon situation more likely:
-- If your weapon is in really bad state when you try to repair it, higher chance of breaking.
-- So 70% has been established (I dont know how) as a good time to repair a weapon with the least chance of it failing.
-- Amore complex weapon (such as a T-21 rifle as opposed to a CDEF rifle) has a higher risk of failure. Don't let your complex weapons get below 70% before trying.
Condition almost always goes down after a successful repair. Sometimes you will get lucky and it is a little bit. Usually 15-20% or some such number.
Hope this helps.
Also, if you don't mind not using power ups...
Power ups chew weapons up pretty badly. Also overchargeshot1 and 2 damage condition a bit too.
Also, I think there is about a 1 in 5 chance that it will break no matter what you do. Just do what you can, but do not expect that you will have success everytime.
DO NOT REPAIR YOUR OWN WEAPONS.
Weaponsmiths have much better chances of succesfully repairing, and your weapon takes much less maximum condition loss if repaired by a weaponsmith (~50, compared to 100+ for non-WS)
Do not repair until it's down to 250-300 condition. There is no evidence showing that lower condition reduces the chance of a successful repair, and even on weapons with high condition there is asignificant chance of getting a crap repair and breaking it or dropping max condition by 200+. If you wait until 250-300, you get more use out of the weapon.
If the weapon drops below 200ish condition, its stats go down. Sometimes the stats come back when repaired, sometimes they don't.
Wow, Jennai...
Thanks.... I'd never heard that! Good info! Are you fairly positive it is correct?
We've had plenty of debate about repairs on the WS forum, and that's what came out. We're still unclear on a few points but what I posted is generally accepted as true.
I have some Vibroknucklers that are at 407 condition right now. I've had them for probably a month and a half or two months...maybe longer. I got them quite soon after picking up TKA. I've repaired them numerous times... each time when the thing told me that my weapon was at 50% condition.
They started at 1010 condition or something like that. Obviously I've gotten a couple less-than-stellar repairs on them, but I've repaired them, and one of my T21's, with no result that wasn't "You repair the weapon with only minor blemishes", or "You repair the weapon, but the overall condition has gone down".
I'd say I'm probably 7 or 8 for 7 or 8. I've repaired many weapons in the time I've played this game... only once have i gotten a critical failure. Of course it was on a Krayt Scatter Pistol...
i am yet to need to repair any of my guns, the trick is:
dont use powerups
dont use overcharge shot
