Thread: Not Overpowered
Neal I will take you up on that bet. I am a master marksman, master rifleman, novice smuggler switching from slicer to underworld, politician. Those are my skills meaning that I am only a master mark and rifleman when it comes to combat. There are plenty of PvP'ers on bloodfin that are well known for their prowess and I am well known for my abilities to push keys on a keyboard. Make an alt and we can arrange some form of duel to take statistics and what you will. This way we can compare a sole rifleman versus anything else.
And all the l33t kids are hopping over to us because then they can stand toe to toe with a krayt while spamming AP3 attacks (btw whats up with piercing have they fixed it yet?) rather then using knucklers, our defenses are out of whack but in the "good" way and that is what attracts us to others.
And I have to disagree on our accuracy, while kiting pikets for cash (hey I can't get hit remember?) I still miss a considerable number of times. If we were overpowered I should be hitting them every time even if burst running right? Then why is it that I still need to get distance and stop to fight them or just do massive damage with my free 2 shots and hope I hit the same HAM bar.

Now on to what we have....
1) GOOD DAMAGE AND SPEED (But like bh I had to waste skill points for master marksman to fire that fast, though not as many as them)
2) GOOD ACCURACY (But our weapons are pretty horrible up close, unless you use the spraystick but its damage is pretty low too)
3) GOOD RANGED AND MELEE DEFENSE
4) STUN DAMAGE (but then again were not the only ones with it)
LOL this made me laugh, let me try:
Best Dmg and speed, targatlble mind Plus 85 speed i belive compare to pistllee +73 or carb +65
Accuracy rocks guy, +180 at master i think, compar tle pistleer +110, even with the -70 at point blank your guns give you still make hits pretty easily
Even with the pistolseers +73 to spd can they shoot at the speed cap with every gun? Then your poitn is mute. Carb's need to petition for a speed upgrade to compete.
The accuracy is also a dumb poitn to make. We have a whole tree devoted to SNIPING!!! What can a sniper do above all else??? SHOOT VERY ACCURATELY.Also if you want to **edit** about the rifle havinga decent accuracy up close why not talk about the pistols accuracy at range?? Then stack that with BH or smuggler lines and they get more accuracy so until a pistol cant hit **edit** from beyond 30 meters dont cry because we jammed our rifle in your gut and pulled the trigger.

A master rifleman CANNOT fire at the speed cap without an exceptionally fast rifle or skill attachments. Even a master rifleman with master marksman is going to find it hard to fire anything except a speed sliced t21 or good laser at the cap.
As for doing 1000 dmg? Maybe, with a well crafted, stocked, T21 with a 30%+ damage slice and a max damage powerup, but only if the target is unarmored. Even a set of Bone armor will give 20% protection to energy, there are plenty of sets of composite with 80% energy resists out there. Add a PSG on top of that and we may as well be spitting at an opponent for all the damage we'll cause.
Can we hit an entire group of 20 people? yes, if they are all stood nice and close together. But then I'm pretty sure that all combat professions have area attacks that will hit a group of people stood within the right range, even melee professions.

hmm... I'd say that anyone who can boast about soloing 5 post-patch giant krayts should think long and hard before saying that anyone else's profession is overpowered
Speed cap or darn close to it, every 1.2, 1.5, 1.7 seconds, it does not matter. Its still plenty fast wouldn't you say? Otherwise rifleman would be clamoring for speed sliced T21s rather than damage sliced T21s.
1000 dmg. Yes you are right I was talking about unarmored, and I'm not saying I go into battle without armor, because I am armored 99% of the time with some of the best armor money can buy. However wearing am 80% energy chestplate, a 720ish dmg T21 hits me for about 1000dmg max (and often), the armor blocks about 600 of that. Lets pretend I had HAM's of 1000 each, probably 3 of 5 shots will hit my health pool. 3 shots of 400dmg each to a health pool of 1000 is known as almost instant death, especially since the rifleman can snipe me from 60m away while he's kiting the next sucker. So lets call that 5 shots it takes to actually incap someone, and being generous and say rifleman fires Adv strafe at 1.5 second increments. 7.5 seconds the fight lasted.
PSGs are currently bugged, and have been for some time. There is no telling whether it will protect against energy, stun, heat, etc.
Strafing 20 people-They dont have to stand all together they just have to be within your fire cone. One guy could be 10m from you and the other guy could be 60m from you, as long as they are within the area of the fire cone, they are getting hit. They don't have to be all standing on top of eachother. You are right almost every profession has an area attack, however rifleman's area attack is also his most powerful attack, so it's a double whammy, that is not the case with most other area attacks, except maybe for commando, but they have to be within 16m to hit you with it. But since a rifleman can kite a commando (or anyone else for that matter) from 64m spamming his most powerful area attack, the commando is not too much of a threat. Same goes for any melee area attack which was mentioned, except that the melee person has to be even closer, not to mention most melee area attacks are pretty weak in pvp.
Soloing 5 post patch krayts- I've done many more than that, however that is combining the skills of Swordsman, Master Brawler, and Master TKA. It's not that a single one of those professions is overpowering, it's the using of skills from all three skillsets, in a very specific manner which applies to PvP kiting in no way, shape or form. Yes its rediculous that a humanoid can take out a 100 foot long dragon without a problem. I do not deny that, however I am doing what I can while I can (before it's changed as I'm sure it will be). I'm not trying to brag when I say this but I would agree that my skillset, when properly used, is overpowering in PvE. However the rifleman skillset needs neither tactic nor strategy. Tab to target, push your advanced strafe button while running the other direction for 7.5 seconds (or 15 seconds if the target is buffed, or 2 seconds if the target is unarmored) then hit sniper shot. Target is now dead.
I find it hard to believe that anyone can with a straight face say that the ability to annihilate any opponent in less than 10 seconds with almost impunity, while doing nothing more than running the opposite direction and pressing a single button, is not overpowered.
I know that rifleman was once gimped beyond belief, I was once a rifleman, and I have many rifleman friends who were rifleman then and still are now, but the developers have overcompensated and made the class too powerful in my opinion. PvP should involve some modicum of strategy or skill, not the ability to hammer your most powerful area attack for 7 seconds and decimate all comers.

Wow that must suck hard I mean my god waiting 1.7 sec do massive dmg and to utterly stop someone from doing anything productive for 10sec. Wow i mean i can fire my delay move and my KD with no delay at.......Oh wait i have no delay move or KD.
Not to mention that we are overrun by a number of trolls.
Everyone please go home.

And how often does conceal shot not work? 1 out of 100 pikets? lol, I've never seen a riflemen get aggroed by anything when they're blasting away at the creature.

Ok I have read this forum and it keep shifting its focus what is it that everyone wants to do to rifleman because they get owned by a master rifleman stacker?
Questions i would like answered from the nerf herders
1. What do you want to penalize rifleman with? A 3 second speed cap? Loss of some rifles? Loss of abilities? Damage mutlipliers? What?
2. Why do you want this to happen? Because you think you should be able to defeat everyone else in the game and not be defeated yourself? What?
3. Should a non master anything think they have the ability to surivive a PvP encounter in a chance encounter? IE, no staged battles, two people run into each other and start fighting. Thus neither is buffed, armor wearing, or properly equiped to fight at that moment. Should a mastermarksman have an advantage over a novice ie carbineer, pistoleer, rifleman, tka?
I ask these because i am a 4-1-3-3 rifleman. I have migrated stats to mind and have 500 h 500 a and 900 mind. I was overt in a relatively vacant town and was running some simple npc missions. When a overt rebel ran into the screen, master scout was his title. he had some pistol skills but nothing much from the looks of his attacks after the battle. We duke it out and i get owned. I humbly tell him good fight knowing that I have been humiliated. But you know what that is the norm for non master rifleman. We dont have the speed or accuracy to really PvP. This master scout owned me because i wasnt buffed to 1000's of pts of ham. I had the disadvantage in weapon speed, weapon distance, lack of defenses, etc. To me the system isnt broken. The last time i won in a faction PvP encounter was when i was a novice carbineer. with only 2 skill boxes filled. Going rifleman has made me ineffective for over a month in PvP. So lets take the favorite thing people want to do speed cap us at 3 sec. I might as well quit rifleman because i wont be leveling anything. By the time I can fire a rifle again the creature will bleed from a 1 pt action or health bleed and I will be attacked. PvP one shot and then i will be dead. If you nerf herders want the 3 sec cap they need to triple the power not reduce it. If i am only going to get one shot it better dang well incap and kill you in the same shot!!
I am saddened by the direction this thread has gone and unfortunately I have not been helping this get into a more positive debate.
However I would like to make a few points
1. If you profession has broken skills (pistoleers) get them fixed instead of breaking ours.
2. If you are a non master fighting a master and get owned then you need to suck it up and leave
3.IF you are complaining that we are impossible to hit.........We have stated several times this is a bug and it will be fixed
4. (cont from 3)using the defense stacker argument is pointless as that too is getting fixed
5. RIfleman are horrible until they cross that master gap, dont say thaty are not because unless you have crossed that gap then you have no idead the difference it can make.
6. The jawa ion is a awesome PVP weapon and is what really set us apart from the other classes. Dont nerf this as it is the balancer for those who can afford comp to those who cant. Yes more weapons need to use stun dmg to offset the power of this gun. This way people will have to choose if they will be safer with or without armor.
To be continued i am late for work
OK back from work
7. All armor should have weaknesses unfortunately the only major one is stun. There should be a decent stun protection armor, but the downside is that it should be vulnerable to almost everything. Otherwise PVP boils down to has the best armor. Stun weapons are meant to be the equalizers, but more classes need access to this damage.
8. Another point I would like to shut down is our accuracy up close. Up close we do hit a little too often, but pistols also hit way too often at ranges over 30meters. Until this is "Fixed" it would be unfair to lessen our accuracy.
9. Stop complaining about mind damage. Until master BH and CM's deal mind damage much much better than us. Also without food and buffs we do roughly 100 points more dmg to you than we do to ourselves. Before you say use food and buffs, we do but why dont you when fighting us?
10. Mind is also the hardest stat to buff. It takes approx 8-10 min for a full buff and that buff only doubles our current stats unlike getting between 1000-3500 for all the other stats in side of 2 mins.
11. Riflemen have a tremendous dmg potential at master, and up until a few months ago this was balanced by being one of the hardest proffessions in the game to master. However with the removal of the 2.5x melee dmg and the fixing of conceal shot made leveling easier. This was compounded with the Holo grinders and the defense stackers. Thus before the fix the power at master was very justified as only a very few number had the will to stick through the grind.
I'm having fun, I win some I lose some. I don't think it's over powered, why are people whining about this class now?? I can point to 3 other professions what can kill me easily.
I think it's the Sniper shot, when people are incapped...why whine about that? Shouldn't a rifleman be able to snipe you? I'd think they would be able to snipe you, without the target being incapped , but, it's just a game.
When did rifle become FOTM?
Kinda confused, since , most people were laughing about me starting it...
