incapped by pikets?

**edit**. dont think that has happened to me since I got novice rifleman. Well, 'cept when the downer hits at a bad time.

no doc buffs, no entertainer mind buffs, just me, my rifle and my muon.

at first I tried the conceal shot bit, then realized with pikets that took to long so tanked em myself. I had 4 pikets of varying variety and didnt have any problem.

I just start out with a the bleeds. sometimes mixing a few other specials but not all the time. eat some muon when the mind get a bit low and heal myself as needed (just have novice medic-thats it).

but i've been getting more exp killing stormtroopers so thats what i'm doing now.

I tried Pikets last night for the first and last time untill I get higher in the Rifleman tree. Savage Quenkers are decent xp for me and my pet. I use a damage sliced T21 that is 239-504, 7.8 speed. (I use speed power ups on it that drops it to 5.4.) With that gun I can kill a Quenkerwith 3-4 headshot 2 attacks. My xp ranges from 2.3k to 3.8k per kill (depending on if the pet helps or not) and I get 400 CH xp with the pet attacking. Between the 2 IMO the Savage Quenker is better xp and less chance of me getting incapped.

Don't know about you guys, but I had to hunt with groups for awhile before I got enough XP and skills to go it alone effectively. I did not start soloing until I had "take cover" and "sneak". I use one of two methods to solo; 1: mask scent, prone, take cover, conceal shot, conceal shot, conceal shot, conceal shot,......etc... or 2:mask scent, prone, take cover, ms1, ms2, hs3, hs3, hs3,...... etc..... Depending on the lvl of the animal I may have to get up and run at least 100m away after ms1 and ms2, sit back let it bleed for a bit then go finish it off with hs3. While sneak may not seem like a good skill, I like it for keepingthe animal in range while I am attacking.

I have been doing pikets...... one thing I have noticed is the order you decide to take them out greatly affects wether or not they aggro. For me, if they are all females.. they dont tend to baf or aggro, but if theres a male in the group they will in a heartbeat. So I usually ms1/ms2/peace and back off to about 100m, let the bleeds tic, drop to prone and fire off 2-3 shots before I get up and kite til they drop. (this seams to take more mind then conceal shot.. but drops it alot quicker) After the males are out of the way, I revert back to conceal shot and hardly ever get aggro.

When I did my lvling I went up the wrong trees!

I did the sniper tree, and concealment tree frist. The point at which everything became easier was when I got flurryshot2. With a good rifle I was doing 5k per on rancors when I went out hunting with my guildmates!Popped a muon and stay in the back and spammed flurryshot2!

That worked for me.

I made master rifleman by hunting pikets. One thing that will help greatly is to make a concealshot macro and put it on your shortcut bar. The macro should look something like:

/concealshot;/concealshot;/concealshot;/concealshot;/concealshot;/concealshot

It'll reduce the amount of times you have to hit the button and will help insure that you don't auto-fire and aggro the creature.

Muon is your friend. Put one in your shortcut bar, when you are running low on mind hit it and it's effects will kick in pretty quick. Food and drinks get dropped at the end of your queue so it will take longer for them to take effect if you have a lot of attacks already lined up.

Get powerups that reduce your mind cost and increase your rifle speed.

Check the weaknesses of the critters your fighting. If it is 80% resist to energy and 5% resist to stun, pull out your jawa ion rifle and start hitting it.

Riflemen are NOT Commandos. We don't run in and start flaming the crap out of everything. You need to stand back, think about the situation, and attack wisely. When you become Master you can take on the starter planets pretty easily, but if you go to Dathomir you will still get your butt handed to you by a Rancor.

Finally, invest in a good set of armor with kinetic defenses.

Onichi,

The concept of putting Peace at the end of the macrois good because with Concealshot, you do not want to inavertently start autofiring once the last Concealshot fires, ruining your concealed status. However, the macro you suggest would probably never fire a shot (one at most). This is because the macro processor and the combat queue are two different things.

/Concealshot;/Concealshot to the macro processor does not mean shoot concealshot then when that is done, shoot another one. /Concealshot means put a concealshot in the combat queue. The combat queue is what will fire the shot and then do what ever is next in line when the shot finishes. So when the macro you suggested runs, it willput six concealshots in the combat queue then dutifully execute the peace command, which would immediately clear the combat queue. Since the macro processor runs so quickly, in all likelihood, no shot would fire, maybe one at most.

So the trick is to find out how long it takes to fire your six concealshots, then put a /pause command before the peace telling the macro processor to wait that many seconds before executing the peace command. For instance, to pause for 10 seconds, you would use /pause 10.

The trick is that your pause cannot be longer than the concealshots take to fire, or you run the risk of going to autofire before the peace hits. It is even more tricky when there is a chance you may be using different guns to use this macro. For instance, your 5.7 speed Jawa will take less time to cycle through those concealshots than will your 8.0 speed T21.

Thus, I would recommend that you underestimate the time neededor add one more concealshot than you actually need to ensure the Peace hits before you run out of concealshots. Also, you will need to review your pause from time to time as you progress through the special abilities tree since your speed will go up as you get closer to Master.

Good point Sotaudi, I hadn't tested that as yet and was going to do so when I got home.. I thought about it after writing it and suspected it might work that way.

What you wrote got me to thinking though... Instead of the pause command you could use the command ( cant remember what it is off the top of my head ) to call an action already in your toolbar, in this case the peace action. Put that command at the end of the concealshot macro and it should work as intended? What do you think? I'll have to test that when I get home too.

Just thought I'd slap that update in there.. I think that's it.. where # is the toolbar number slot you have the /peace command in.
