Thread: Styles
2)Yes, they are the only rifle skills that specifically target the mind ham.
Guys, i have 2 questions:
1) FlushingShot, FluryShot does damage only to mind pool or all the 3 ham bars?
2) Only mindshot, headshot does damage to mind pool?
I just noticed that Sniper Shot is missing from everyone's tables. Does anyone have all the costs for it? I'm not high enough to check it yet.
Thanks,
Not
I'm sorta new at this rifle thing
I was a commando but i couldnt afford it cause of the **edit** brawler that has no specific purpose........thats not for this thread tho. I have 2 questions:
1) What order does everyone get things in for the 3 tress the require rifle? (all i got is the one that gives mindshot2)
2) What is everyone's attack sequence at master and novice? (mindshot1, mindshot2, headshot2 is mine so far but i assume that wil change)
thanks

i'd suggest first box on the first tree for mindshot 2, then proceed up the counter-sniping tree for the AOE shots. PLug all your combat xp into the last tree (can't recall the name) to raise rifle speed. Once you are 1/0/4/4 fill the other trees as you want - the xp will come fast enough once you get rifle speed up.
Personally i never use mindshot anymore unless i'm by myself - even then i prefer to use ConcealShot, by drawing out targets to that i can take them one by one. Takes more time, but is worth it. If i'm in a group i tend to use the dizzyshot (can't remember the **edit** name, might be startleshot1), then suppressionfire to change posture. I can get the target knocked down ant 75% of the time with this tactic - game over for the target since they can't get up when dizzy.
Ok that makes sense. Thanks. I think the dizzy shot your referring to is Flurry shot cause I just got that and it is reall nice. Especially in groupsbecause most people dont hit mind. What weapon do you guys use or pve and pvp?

In PVP i use a well sliced t21 with a 33% damage powerup on it go raise the damage over 650. it makes it so strafe2 does one shot incaps on people(s) which is very nice when a few rebs atack me when i invade coronet =).
in PVE i use a normal t21 without slice or powerup so it'll last longer. i just send out my pets and unleash some mayhem with flurry2 and then just do auto attack on my targets. if i get desperate for a quick kill i whip out my dlt20a with a damage slice and 33% damage powerup and do strafe 2 over and over. the low ham costs on the dlt20a allow me to hit the target for upto 2.2k at about every second and my ham bars barely get touched.
on a side note i usually only do pvp with some entertainer buffs on my mind and(or) some or all other stat buffs. it makes for longer fights which make it more fun. especially if your goin up against someone with full stat buffs =), makes for a great duel.

more power to you i guess... but i couldn't really do that. You're not getting XP anymore so whats the point of hunting? Its not like the combat system alone is spectacular....
if you're a pistoleer/smuggler/BH/Commando, however, you can be constantly building up your skills by PvEing for XP, while at the same time not being in a rush to grind to master since you are already quite potent in PvP.
HARPOON...
I agree with Saladin. I am Master Rifleman and I still PvE. I do it for money... The $$ for the higher mobs on the tougher planets is good. But it is also good stress relief for me. And there is much more money than just the lair reward: There are TWO additional sources of income from PvE. One most people know about, and one that very few people think about. In fact, I am the only one that I know of that does the second thingon a regular basis:
1. Harvesting. Most people know about this. But you can make some decent money selling meat or hides on the bazaar. I charge 3x the volume (1000 units hide for 3000cr) and never have problems selling everything.
2. Here's the one most people don't think about: It has several requirements in order to work, but if you can manage it, you can make a lot of money: Sell Apprentice Points!! How you ask?...
-- If you don't have novice scout, get it.
-- Harvest EVERYTHING you kill and save the scouting XP
I can acquire up to 30,000 scout XP before Icap out.
-- Limitation #1. You will need to keep one of the lower level scout boxes availble to LEARN.
I keep Scout/Hunting 1 ready to learn.
-- Go to any busystarport and you will find people saying"I will teach Marksman/Hunting for free". These people are looking for apprentice points.
-- Limitation #2: The person needing apprentice points must be able to teach you Scout/Hunting I (or whatever box you kept ready to learn.
I have the following conversation on an almost daily basis:
Joe: Shouts "I am teaching all Marksman skills for free"
Me: /tell Joe Do you need apprentice points?
Joe: tells me back "Yes, please"
Me: Do you have Scout/Hunting 1?
Joe: Yes!
Me: How many apprentice points do you need
Joe: I need 200 more
Me: I will sell them all to you for 8K
Joe: Bah...You can't sell apprentice points.
Me: Yes I can. Are they worth 8K to you if i prove it?
Joe: Yes
(We group)
Me: Teach me Hunting 1, and ONLY hunting 1.
(Joe offers to teach you hunting 1)
(You learn hunting 1 from Joe, costs you 1000 XP, Joe gets 20 points)
(You immediately SURRENDER Hunting I skill)
Me: Teach me Hunting I again.
Joe: Again??
Me: Yes, teach me hunting I again.
(Joe offers to teach you hunting 1)
(You learn hunting 1 from Joe, costs you 1000 more XP, Joe get 20 more points)
Joe: Oh.. I see... this is cool!
Me: Pay me 8K and I'll give you the other 160 points!
(Joe gladly pays you because this saves him possibly HOURS of play time)
WIth 30000 scout xp I can sell 30 learnings x 20 points each = 600 Apprentice points.
Now I don't always have 30K XP, but most people only need 100-300 points.
One guy offered me 50K for 240 points!! I told him that was excessive, but he said it was WELL worth it to him! So I took his money. This is rare... many people dont have enough money, so often I sell for really cheap because I'm a sucker for a down and out newbie!
I've had people totally blow me off thinking I am a scam artist. Their loss... they are still standing there several hours later trying to find someone to teach.

I've collated the information here, and put it in a .pdf if anyone wants a copy or wants to link it for others to use. http://rothwellhome.org/riflestyles.pdf
Thanks so much for that! I have the printout on my desk, and it's so convinient to look things up in there quickly when I get a new skill or in a new group. Eventually I will know everything by heart, but till then, this is an invaluable help! Please keep this updated when/if the data changes. Thanks!
