Suppression isn't knockdown, it's posture down. If they are standing, they will kneel. If they have ranged attack, they can still use it. It's not the pvp dominant knockdown effect, but I've been around Sony products long enough to know how they evaluate things, if it's easy and fun, expect a nerf. Sony's design doc says things should be punitive and repetetive to be enjoyable.

OK... That makes sense. I guessanimals don't have a "posture down", so maybe it makes sense they would just stop and stand there.

So what would be the best shot to go with Suppression fire to simulate a knockdown? I don't have Flurry shot yet.... is there a Marksman shot that works well with Suppression?

I see your point, Seflyn... I was spamming Suppression FIreon Greater Womp Rats last night after MS1 and MS2 and getting 2200 XP and if I kept them far enough away, the only damage I was getting was what I was doing to myself. I don't PvP, so does it work the same there? Because if I let the Womp Rats close enough, they were spitting acid on me fromat least 40 yds. Does this mean that an NPC (or other player) could still nail me even though I'm hitting them with Suppression shots?

I'm a combat medic rifleman and it looks like its time to drop it for pistol... In PvP you suck with because you do half the damage to your self that you do to your opponent. Anymore all i do is toss area poison mind , and then fight, they'll die eventually. The nice thing about it was that ideal range on alot of the rifles was around 40-50ish and i can lob area stims that far, so i don't have to get close in compat.

PvE you end up blowing all your mind in heals and specials so your a hinderance to the group. With all the pistol / carbine spamming knockdown with stimpack b's to keep up the ham cost, there's no point to us in groups anymore.

A great spot for getting novice rifleman and your first box (before you get MS2 and speed up the draining process) recluse spined/spitting snakes on LOK are amazing exp, just go prone /aim /mind then /hs2 twice stand and run while hs2. the snakes drop after maybe 20-30 meters. yielding 670 exp each they are easy safe kills and there nests are fairly common, a great way to grind through the exp before MS2, cause it takes upwards of 5 minutes to bleed a mature snorbal female with ms1

My tip... forget rifleman. It's a bad profession for a game that doesn't have the engineto deal withactual rifledistance.

With an antique bolt-action rifle at 200m, what I consider to be easy distance,I can put 3 shots into an Olympic sprinter without rushing and I'm definitely not that best shot I know. Somehow, in the Star Wars world I'm incapable of shooting much over 60m and I'm lucky to get one shot off and pull my pistol before some unarmed or melee weapon opponent is standing on top of me and wailing the heck out of me.

Rifle is stupid at the distances this game deals with. Carbine is a far better weapon if there was any need to have a little range, but the King of the Hill is pistol or melee. Just run straight at your opponent blazing away. Or better yet... swinging a sword.

Somehow, I have my doubts that George Lucas had that in mind for his world. I mean please, swords? daggers? in a world that has blasters?????????? And why exactly is it that somehow with all this technology they can't make a rifle that fires much farther than a pistol? Dumb.

I doubt you will ever get flamed for asking about terminology, kiting means the mobs chasing you and your running, so its following at a near constant distance, kind of like if you where flying a kite and towing it behind you. There is reverse kiting where you warning shot or use some other skill to get the monster to run and you follow it, the basic idea is running away while doing damage so you kill it without experiencing the beloved rifle 2.5 damage bonus. The key to this is finding slow mobs like Jax, Banthas, and Snorbals.

Let me tell you something....I benn playing i think 3 weeks now, my friend has been playing about 5-6 weeks. He has a pistol and I a rifle. We shot at animals the same distance back to back and he is actually more accurate than I am. I find that I throw a trap fire off MS2, i then stand from prone try to get my pistol and their they areall over me...what the hell is going on here???? I am seriously thinking about another weapon here, why in the world they designed a game like this I have no idea, i understand they don't want us leveling quickly, ok that's fine, I understand this, so when (or if)i master rifleman will i be able to shot further with more accuracy than my pistoleer friend? I am ready to chuck this rifle and a freakin sword or something.

The Jedi looked to anakin to bring balance to the force, we look to holo to bring balance to the classes, but don't hold your breath.
