Thread: A nerf to save us from ourselves....
I'm glad to see this thread sparked some discussion.
When I was novice, I wanted nothing more than to remove the melee penalty. I've been a rifler since day one, and now I'm almost master. As I moved up the tree, I began to see why the 2.5x was there, but I was always for something to make a novice's life easier, as long as master did not get overpowered. I was novice in the days of MASS warping, lower accuracy, BAF for sneezing, all that fun stuff, so it was hell. But that taught me to play the class and learn what to do.
Then, the big fix changed things completly. We got accurate, which is good, have no problem with this. The BAF AI got fixed, that is also good , no problems again. The 2.5x got removed, Uh-oh! Big problem. Three positive acts by the DEVS without a negative one=Trouble. Then they goof up the melee to-hit penalty, BIG PROBLEM. I think they made it anegative number, instead of a positive one. (ie: they substract 25% chance to-hit, instead of adding 25% chance to-hit for melees.) True, they increased the HAMs, but damage supposedly has gone up too. This all leads to nerf-city.
And that is why I made this thread, we're getting nerfed, period. It will happen, it's just a matter of time. I say we, as a community, accept this and try to make the nerf on our terms. That was the point of the thread.
At any rate, good discuss, and great to here to from some of the old-school (Wayneinaustin, The Lobo, etc.)
I don't post much anymore, too many "what does sniper shot do?" posts when there are already 15 posts saying the same thing in the last 3 pages of the forum. It is also starting to get a bit like BH / TKA boards on here, I'm not sure why but I suspect it's because rifle is a lot easier to play than it used to be.
