I just tested it on an overt rebel. The combat screen comes up but it doesn't autotarget or autofire back.

Jeisyn,

First, excellent work. It is a good analysis, and your efforts are greatly appreciated. However, I would like to make one suggestion. You said:

"... limits the ability to wear anything but the lightest armors ..."

and

"You cannot wear a lot of heavy armor (layered composite) ..."

I would suggest changing the terminology here. The terms "light armor" and "heavy armor"have specific meanings in the game. As you know, Light, Medium, and Heavy armor refer to specific classes of armor that have specific effects on different classes of weapons with regard to armor piercing ability. Since all player armor is of the light class, it would probably have been better to say, depending on what you are trying to get across, one of the following:

If you are thinking in terms of encumbrances, light and heavy are accurate terms, but it would be better to clarify:

"... limits the ability to weararmor with anythingbut the lightest encumbrances..." and "You cannot wear a lot of armor with heavy encumbrances (such as layered composite)...."

Or if you are thinking in terms of effectiveness:

"... limits the ability to wearthe more effective armors ..." and "You cannot wear full sets of the more effective armors (layered composites)..."

This just helps avoid confusion between the armor classes (heavy, medium, light) and other aspects of armor.

Thanks, Sotaudi, I willclarify these pointsin the FAQ version -.

I was, in fact, referring to "light" and "heavy" encumberances, as you may have guessed.

Classic case of taking what is obvious to one's self as common knowledge for others as well, which is definitely not the case in this game.

Nice post Jeisyn

You may also want to point out that another weekness we have in pvp is that we are easy to dizzy and knock down. At least thats what I find when I'm in PVP. It doesn't seem to happen that often in large engagements, but 1v1 I usually lose because I've fallen and I can't get up. If I don't get knocked down I usually come out on top though.

Another important note is that Block does not, in fact, work at all in any way.

Thank you, Jeisyn. You are awesome. I can nitpick some of the details of your points, but overall I just want to thank you for trying to put rifleman into perspective for people and their trivial complaints about the prof.
Warping as the #1 I think is spectacular and I hope they fix it, but that's not really a class programming issue and is a waste of one of our top 5.
"Top 5" can just mean what the most people complain about. I'd rather hear what the most _experienced_ people have to complain about, frankly.

I would love input on my thread that weapon repair is the #1 issue (of course it needn't be #1, that's just for effect) and taking that into account in your Rifleman 101 weaknesses.
I also realize that this is not a "class" issue any more than warping is. But there is no appplicable artisan profession, and it hits us hardest. T21 resources range from scarce to nonexistent across the servers. Who cares if they "fix" T21's as a top tier weapon if we can't buy one or can't keep one?

While not a rifleman, I'm curious about something. When yousaid that any race other than Humans, Zabraks, and Mon Cals have it harder, I'm assuming you meant that those three races have superior mind stats. However, I wasunder the impression that Humans are able to migrate their focus, the most important stat in terms of mind using specials, to 1100. Zabraks can only get 500 max and thus seem to not even be in the same ballpark as a human with maxed mind stats (heck, the one stat Zabraks were "supposed" to be superior to everyone in, willpower, is at maximum values for both races200 less than a Human's). Humans are the best Rifleman hand's down. Heck, they're the best everything.

P.S. -I've heard thata Human's ability to migrate all of their stats from 400-1100 (especially secondaries) is not intended. It always did strike me as odd that a Human could be as strong as the strongest Wookie and regenerate health as fast as the most resilient Trandoshan....

No, I don't think you can migrate all your stats to have 1100 in one type of pool.

I have 400 health/action stats, leaving me with 3000 attribute points, used as 1100 mind, 1000 focus, 900 willpower. Not far from 1100 in all three though.

maruader armor is nice and all, but i would actually suggest st/marine armor over it and a hotkeyed composite helm, if you can stand the 15k or so of fp grinding for it

First, very good article.

now here are a few points:

- We as riffleman get the best dmg output of the 3 range classes.

- As a master riffleman with a decent laser riffle (sliced and powered up!) i easely outdamage commandos and bounty hunter. i realised it when i first went holo hunting at the imperial research station on naboo. It was me against a group of 6 and i was easily getting 3/4 of the loots

- I know it is annoying that we depend on buffs so much, but when buffed ( in all 9 stats) we are easily one of the strongest class in the game. And this game is supposed to be based on player interdependence. A master doctor is easy to find and when you can't find the master musicians and dancer, just keep a few crates of muon gold a a back up. With the muon or buffed i can spam HS3 or strafe2 all day long without worrying about my mind pool

- I think the biggest problem with us is that we only get to rip the benefits at master level

- So just stop whinning before everybody realise how strong we can beif played correctly and get us nerfed AGAIN
