been a rifleman for 41/2 months now... i got sooo used to the penalty i didnt notice it was removed till a while ago, yup. i learned to addapt. Placing the penalty back in is a way to keep us from gettin nerfed, and to make our class unique, its VERY easy to work around the penalty, just be creative and smart
i was one of the first riflemen on sunrunner (donno about the rest of the game but i do know i was one of if not the first on sunrunner) and the 2.5 melee damage sucked hardcore but it did give us balance in the rifle 1 shot pvp incap days. god i miss those days anyway, i dident and still dont see why they took it out, face it get close to a rifleman and you can own him becasue we are not trained to kill at close range. Somone charges you wip out that pistol you trained to IV (hopefully) and combat withdraw to a safe distance while cover firing, who know you might get the kill while running and with a pistol in hand no 2.5 melee damage.
i hate to say this but the DEV's need to bring back the 2.5 damage modifier, or my brother and sisters prepare to get hit with the nerf bat.... hard.
Rifleman do it better than anyone else... its called a Jawa! I'm master rifleman and i run around with my normal stats:
3k heath and action, 1500ish secondary health and action. 2k mind, 1600 focus, 690 willpower. And a full suit of 90% composite.
A rifleman with a good jawa is my biggest fear. Glad I have the best Jawa on our server.
That was not a TKM attack, the 30m KD is Lunge2 in the master brawler box. It has a range of 20m, but with latency it can appear to be at 30m on your machine.
Everyone should also remember that this is just step 1 of the balance pass. The changes in this pass helped us. It is very likely that the next changes could help us again (the new HAM system) or they could hurt us (speed cap).
Anyone who is changing classes for a perceived more powerful class until the combat system is finished is basically wasting their time.
Yes we are relatively balanced compared to the other classes that are predominately fixed. Yes we are more powerful than the classes that are still broken. Lets see how they fix them.

Though I am still Master RIfleman, I rarely post much anymore due to time constraints from the "Real World".And, BTW, I agree with you 100%. Seflyn was the first one I remember taking up the banner against removing the 2.5 melee damage, but I could be remembering wrong. I obviously enjoy having it gone, but I would rather have it back at the cost of a much worse nerf.

but for you people who are truely concerned about playing a rifleman, fear not. we'll probably get nerfed, yes, but i doubt it will come in the form of a 3 second cap. more likely would be ham increases i think. we saw a stealth ham increase with the last patch, expect more of the same. let's not forget the point i made in another post in this thread.... the 3 second cap was mentioned once by a developer.
ONCE. in september. it has never been mentioned again. all of our "3 second! sky is falling posts" have been in reference to that one utterance and replying to threads like this, likely started by people who actually want a nerf... is the wrong way to go about welcoming the tide of n00bs to this community. posts with nerf in it should be one starred, not replied to, and rolled off the board since they accomplish exactly jack squat. maybe klaw could write up something and sticky it to that effect.

There will be a nerf coming. That is obvious from reading this form. Take a look how many posts out there with topics such as
damage done in 10 seconds
how much are you called an exploiter
look at this rifle
etc, etc
We still have alot of things that limit us, the use of mind for specials. But with the melee penalty gone master rifleman looks extremely great. I have been a master for along time, through the good and bad. Even using a dlt20a because Starsider didn't have lasers yet.

come on people seed cap will be a really big nerf for rifleman even with 2 sec /shot (thats like nerfing our dmg in 1/2) pople who say that us having a 2.5 multiplier when hit by melee weps are newbs they dont know how to use this profesion
why do we have to suffer just becose some newb is sanding still shoting at a tkm and when the tkm finelly gets to the rifleman and hits him for a @ss lod of dmg he starts crying and bitching about the 2.5x dmg so just put the 2.5 multiplier and lave it at that rifleman arent gods
I agree, put the 2.5x damage multiplier back in.
I am also fine with a slower rate of fire, as long as our damage increases to compensate this. We are supposed to do incredibly damaging shots, but we are supposed to be slower. Currently our shots aren't damaging enough but we're firing too fast.
I hope they revamp the combat system with things like this in mind, as it will create a lot of more interesting strategies. Rifleman would now need to stay down and not get noticed, Carbineers would try to be as loud and as damaging as possible to as many people as possible, and Pistoleers would be the tricky ones who knockdown, dizzy, stun, confuse, disable, etc. the enemy (I'm not just talking in-game states either).
Currently the only difference between Pistoleers, Carbineers and Riflemen is that they use different weapons. No other special tactics or strategies are involved.
Im a Master Commando working on Master Rifleman. Now the 2.5x dmg ALSO applied for Commando, so id hate to see that put back in. If there was a way so that the 2.5x dmg applied ONLY for those holding a rifle, id have no problem with it. Yes, RIFLEMAN should have this handicap, if you let a TK or any other melee for taht matter get close, well its either ur own **edit** fault for letting em get taht close or they have a good template with a lot of ranged defense in which case just use /aim and ur still stupid if they get close enough ![]()
Anyways, flame thrower specials work only within 16m of the target, so 2.5x more melee dmg really hurts commandos. Also, im really rather disappointed that Im stuck suffering from the nerfs of the 'godly' powers of the Rifleman without being able to take part in it, Tarquinas server STILL has no T-21s, the only ones we r get looted and they suck @$$, like 107-350 dmg 11.0 speed.
