Thread: A nerf to save us from ourselves....

Riflemen Pwn. It's true.


With the removal of the melee penalty and the fix we got a few patches back, we are on the edge of getting nerfed, and nerfed hard. We're talkin 3 sec cap here. This class would die. We would receive no damage increase or HAM change to compensate, I see a pure nerf coming.


And here is my proposal. We nerf ourselves; we do it on our terms.
A 2 second cap, combined with a 15-25% damage INCREASE.


We must do something, otherwise we will be nerfed and nerfed HARD.

We must do something, otherwise we will be nerfed and nerfed HARD. A 2-sec cap I could deal with. As was pointed out by Selfyn, I believe, we get hit LESS OFTEN than a TKM. Something is wrong there. We can outdamage almost anyother class. Yes, using our mind is a HUGE limitation, but still, 5x with ap3 and MINIMUM 350+ max damage (pre-slice/Powerup) is a DANGEROUS weapon. I haven't really missed since I hit sniper, and I get 40 accuracy at MRM.


We are in danger of becoming a flavour of the month. I don't want that to happen. If I'm wrong on this, say so. If you agree, say so too. Any thoughts, post em. Let's see if we can manage this on our terms before we get screwed.

I dont see any way to bring down peolpe in full composite and all HAM pools at 2k+.

i disagree with us being speed capped at 2 (or more seconds) for a couple reasons:


even with our high accuracy, it's **edit** hard to hit a player with a decent pvp template and we've got nothing to keep us alive inside of 25m. slowing us down would hurt a lot unless they increase accuracy yet again and also give us more dmg (you gonna hold your breath on that?)


we have no defense vs posture down/KD. People can suppress us, people can Fire KD us, people can Low Blow us, people can lunge1/2/KD1/2 us and we just take it. you better be buffed and wearing armor if you want to survive that stuff. nevermind Blind


we use unhealable pool for specials. (yes, there are buffs, but any other profession can get those buffs, and doc buffs last longer + are more potent than dancer/musician).


to offset our low status defenses + HAM use, we have the highest accuracy of any non-stacked range profession, we have the highest ranged defense of a non-stacked range profession, and we have good a choice of damage types and armor piercing.


i'd say at the moment, rifleman is the most balanced it's ever been.

I say let them Give us a 3 second cap, BUT double our Max Distance. So we can hit them like we should be able to. 128m. Whats the crap about flame shooting as far if not further then bullets or laser? Course I was KD and taken out by a TKM from 30m?? I hope they don't Nerf us... I am a Master CH which is USELESS in PvP, so I am Mastering Rifleman to suppliment the Suck. Now they gonna nerf us too? in the "Balancing"? Ugghhh

umm where am i gonna find a SLOW enough gun fro a 2 sec self cap??? do they make backwards powerups too??? high damage w/damage slice t21 (7.6 speed off the top of my head) i fire specials at the one sec cap without any speed WPU.


please elaborate further on how you propose we slow ourselves down. do i need to drop MMarks it is only a +5 speed???

We get hit less than TKMs because they screwed up that part of the code from the last patch. It should be fixed soon. And a 15-25% damage increase in exchange for a 2 sec cap? HAHA. Try 200-215% increase.

Dunno if I said that right, darn %'s can be tricky. Suffice to say, double our speed you should double the damage. *sigh*

i like the wa you think, but that really changes nothing in the damage per second then. for PvE it will take me less time to kill things. and seeing you hit 5 different targets for 6k average to one HAM pool with SS2. get in a good shot and that can be above 8k. talk about killing a picket quick. we would definatly get nerfed then. plus a 2 sec cap is slower than my spraystick fires now (1.8). yes i still use a spraystick, only when i group with ppl that are trying to get exp (i don't need any and i have my T21 hotkeyed if things get harry).

No speed cap. Just fix our accuracy at closer ranges and especially while running. I mean we are suppose to be the kings of long range combat. Does it really matter if we do tons of damage at long range if we can't hit jack at short range? We would be the kings of our domain and the pistoleers/melees would be the kings of their own.

You know I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so. Most of the old school Master Rifleman, which I dont see posting much anymore, know what I am talking about.


I tried to tell the young rifleman that screaming about Rifleman being weak and that the 2.5x had to be removed would end up nerfing the profession, and we will see that come to pass here soon enough.


Instead of accepting our faults knowing that they are there so that we could enjoy our strengths you people pushed our correspondent to ask for to much, and in the end we will all pay for it.


Rifleman is just to strong of a profession now.

I've always supported making rifleman easier to level as long as it didn't make Master Riflemen more powerful as well. That very thing happened when the melee penalty was removed, which Master Riflemen have always approved of. Sadly the result will most likely be a completely mutilating "over-nerf" by the devs (remember the T21?).
