Thread: Giant Dune Kimo oh, come on!!

I was with a group of ppl last night as we attacked a GDK in Kimo Town on Lok. Now I have fought just about every creature in the game, and have been able to land at least 1 or 2 strafe and startle shots on them all. I was pumped on Muon and went through 3 full attack queues of strafe and startle w/o causing a dizzy or stun on any of the shots. What's the deal. Are they just that powerful, did I do something wrong, or is there an imbalance here?
Starfe shots (1 or 2) and startle shots (1 and 2) don't cause any status effects, they are a clear cover (strafe) and posture up (startle)
Now flushing shots (1 or 2) cause a stun status to occur
Flurry shot (1 or 2) gives you your dizzy.

I wouldn't be too mad for not dizzy/stunning a GDK... They probably have good resistances to those and there's no point of getting him dizzy unless you have someone with you that has a kd attack (bet it doesn't work too well w/ kimos) As for stun, I am still stunned that i don't know what stun does.
Stun lowers defenses. That is why people say to use Flurry 2 in pvp against defense stackers.

jawa is one of the least effective on a kimo due to its armour. AP is far more important than going after its vulnerabilities and resistances. the only time a jawa can outdamage a T21 is if the creture is immune to energy
Barb, that is only partly true. You have to examine the creature and determine the overall effect of armor, resistances, and vulnerabilities. Ignoring the difference in damage ranges between the two weapons for a moment andignoring the special used (because the special would affect both weapons the same) and assuming that both a T21 and a Jawa get a 500 damage roll against a critter, before resistances are taken into account:
Against an AR0 target before resistances, the T21 will do 500 * 1.96 = 1470 damage.
Against an AR1 target before resistances, the T21 will do 500 * 1.56 = 1170 damage
Against an AR2 target before resistances, the T21 will do 500 * 1.25 = 938 damage
Against an AR3 target before resistances, the T21 will do 500 damage
Now, if those same targets are vulnerable to Stun, armor and resistance factorsare bypassed for Stun damage,so the Jawa will do the same500 damage to all of them. When resistances are taken into account for the T21, what this boils down to is that:
If the target is vulnerable to Stun, against an AR3 target, a Jawa will always do more damage than a T21 (assuming the same damage roll) unless the target is also vulnerable to energy, in which case they tie. Against an AR2 target, once the Energy resistspass 20%, the Jawa will deal more damage against it ifthe targetis Stun vulnerable. For AR1, the same becomes trueafter 36% Energy resists, and at AR0,after 49% Energy resists.
If the target is not vulnerable to Stun or Energy, the math changes, butthe AP difference between the AP1 and AP3 weapons will only go so far. Against an unarmored or light armored target, the armor bonus for the T21 is only two levels over the Jawa, or 1.56 times the damage for the T21. This means that the T21 will do more damage against those two target types until the target reaches 35% more Energy resists than Stun resists (e.g., 15% resists to Stun but 50% resists to Energy= same damage at AR0 or AR1, but15% Stun and 51% energy, the Jawa starts winning). Against AP2 targets, the T21 starts to lose after 60% more Energy resists than Stun resists, and against AR3, when the energy resists are 75% more than the Stun resists.
i have a pretty decent jawa in my bank box next time i go kimo hunting i will drag it out and do some real world shooting. wont be for a bit yet i dropped my medic skills for ranger tracking while im looking for my great plains stalker. i wish there was some way i could keep tracking its so friggen handy. when i get my medic back i will go try it out. i just think that the bonus that the T21 gets for the creature's medium armour and energy resist will outweigh the damage that a jawa can do.
the only way that would really work tho is if the creature was vulnerable to both stun and energy and this isnt the case with kimos.
