Thread: Every class has its weakness

Yep,
KD/Dizzy = I'm F*CKED !
Riflemen aren't that overpowered as many seems to think they are, but still the most powerful ranged profession when considering how little skillpoints they spend. On another note all people who cry nerf doesn't do it because they can't play their profession, a good carbineer fighting a regular riflemen would still only have a 50/50 chance of winning, but don't just assume that getting stun armor, entertainer buffs, brandy and muon will even things out since the riflemen can get those things aswell.
But nerfing a profession is never a solution to anything and just pisses people of. Instead fix the other professions to even things out. As I'm a carbineer myself I know if we had all our specials working fighting riflemen wouldn't be so hard as it is now. Can't really say anything about pistoleers since I've never been one except that I imagine they are in a similar position.

Master CarbineerI can see your argument, kinda... The thing is, you may need buffs/food/armor to stand a chance against us, but Riflemen have to get those things to be effective at all; half the reason people think we're uber is that we're pretty much the only class that is truly paranoid about their Mind pool... thus, we're almost always hopped up on food/spice/buffs; people think we're naturally resistant to everything when in reality, we drop like flies unbuffed.I tried to PvP unbuffed and without food. Once was all it took to know I should never, ever do it again. At anyrate, the solutions to 90% of your Riflemen problems is in the new Chef patch. Get yourself some good food, and the playing field gets leveled REALLY quickly.
Try playing as a carbineer and see how well it goes unbuffed and without food, I know you riflemen got it hard with the mind drain but Carbineers are abit worse of when it comes down to HAM costs. But you are correct about the new chef foods, it does give everyone a better way to deal with riflemen but still there is nothing stopping the riflemen to use food aswell. And as a Master Carbineer with the BH carbine tree I have no problem outdamaging most riflemen, its just the good ones that kill me

Master Carbineer
Cairn,
Considering how many skill points they spend? Uh, a Master Rifleman spends exactly the same number of skill points that a Master Pistoleer or a Master Carbineer spends. I am not sure what you are trying to say there. Also, consider that Carbineers and Pistoleers can supplement their skills with BH for Carbineer or BH or Smuggler for Pistol. Rifle is Rifle is Rifle. There are no skills that add to what I can do with my Rifle. The best I can do is to pick upa complementary profession, such as Swordsman, to continue attacking mind at melee range, but that is a different weapon, not added bonuses to the one I already trained in like you can get with Pistol or Carbine.
Also, a good carbineer fighting a lesser rifleman may only have 50/50 chance of winning, but that is just because Carbineer needs to be fixed. If you read the Rifleman boards, I think you will see that we agree that Carbine and Polearms need to be fixed. But at the same time, a carbineer vs. a rifleman at the same level should only win 50% of the time when the game is in balance.

I agree with most things you posted there except for the part about skillpoints. Somehow you seem to think its good that we can suplement our carbine/pistol skills with either getting BH or smuggler, but shouldn't doing so give us an definitive advantage over a pure rifleman since we do spend almost all of our skillpoints by doing so? Now its more like a BH/Carbineer is pretty much as good as just a pure rifleman that spends alot less skillpoints thus being able to spend them on some other prof, like CM or Doc. In my opinion there should be some profession that riflemen would have to dabble in to get the most out of their weapons, just like carbineers/pistoleers have to do at the moment.
I hope you don't take this as some sort of nerf cry for riflemen since I pretty much like them the way they are, the nerf herders should go back and try to get their own professions fixed instead of trying to ruin the game for others who actually got working professions.

Master Carbineer
I personally played carbineer for a good period of time. I was able to do things at 1-1-2-2 in carbineer that i am just now able to handle again as rifleman 4-1-4-3. The reason why is buffs. If a carbineer gets the proper buffs their ham bars never need to move EVER!!. I used to go hunting with CH/Carbineer friend of mine while i was MD/Carbineer we buffed action/ health/ and stamina and the recharge rate alone would recharge so fast that we never had to worry about specials cost. Up until recently i had a huge problem even keeping my mind in attacking shape due to the emense drain on mind that our specials have along with the inate high costs of Rifle hams.
Yes, smart rifleman have figured a way around the mind costs by becoming the most persistent users of drugs, alcohol, and food. I see rifleman lined up at chef shops to buy food by the crates, the ability to successfully PvP comes so late in the game for rifleman that any "nerf" to the class will essentially religate any novice rifleman to an even slower grind up the rifle tree and cost huge amounts in medical supplies since we will be on our backs or in cloning centers more frequently than a novice brawler against a nightsister. This is one of only a few classes were most everything actually works. With exceptions of Block and a bugged melee defense. Both of which we would love to have fixed. Not a single one of us i have read says that we shouldn't be easier to hit in melee combat. But the insanity of speed nerfs would destroy this class. Lower our accuracy on the run, fine but dont take the speed away. Speed is the only thing that can save my butt when I have a nasty pack of NPC's on my tail.
Seriously people need to sit back and think about this from other people's perspectives. What do you really want your own class fixed or another class broken to your level of misery? Spend time fixing problems not making new ones.
completley agree
rifleman isn't overpowered. Sure, our attacks (strafeshot2 especially) do some big damage, but as soon as we get KD / dizzy or any melee class gets in range we're screwed.
This could be said for every ranged profession, but even a master rifleman has terrible accuracy when running, and most riflemen have their attribute points tied up in mind stats, leaving health and action fairly low.
