Hi...Don't be hating from my title...I became a rifleman 2 days ago, bought me a T21 looted rifle (I dont think we have any crafted ones, and if we do i hear they go for 4 mil) anyway back to my point, my rifle was 105-360 (i think) at 11 spd, sliced for 29% to get it to 135-465 at 11 spd, with power up i can get it to 590 max, butI have a laser rifle that goes to 765 max with power up at 6.3 speed, I have yet to find a creature with an armor rating, so i was just wondering, why use the T21, I mean, that thing has a huge silencer on it, it should give a huge bonus to cover or something, anyway, also anyone know what skill i should pick up first? im 0/0/0/0 atm ill get my first skill today.

well, the dmg isn't terrible on that thing, what's the mind cost? the speed is horrible for a t21.

average t21 on tempest is about 130-350ish, 7.3 speed, 70 mind cost. (last i looked, quite a while ago).

it's nicer than a laser rifle because it's min and max dmg's are closer together - it's more 'reliable' dmg. your worst roll with a t21 is nothing like a bad roll with a laser, which could be as low as a couple hundred points of dmg.

anyways, that's one aspect of it anyways. i'm not sure of the T21 situation on Tarq, sorry

all that aside, a general rule of thumb for leveling is to get 1xxx first, then go to box 3 in countersniping (xx3x), and spend all your combat xp on the speed boxes.

after you get flushingshot2 (countersnipe3) go back to the sniping line and finish it, then go up the concealment line.

most ppl do it that way, anyways. although i see a lot of novices wanting that "sniper" title and going up sniping first - uh, if your'e going to master the profession, who cares what title you have for a week? get countersnipe3 asap and master the profession WAY faster...

anyways, g'luck!

Your Laser is superior to your looted T21 however the T21 has a couple advantages over the Laser

-Higher min DMG(More consistant dmg, useful when using your 3 prone "free" non aggro shots where you want to make sure you get good dmg on all three hits...speed irrelevant here)

-AP3 (you will notice the difference the AP makes on Medium AR mobs)

Both my Laser and my T21 have about the same max dmg but I usually wind up opting for the T21 cuz i hate those bunk Laser shots every now and then......avid food user so the HAM costs arent really a problem. Hope this helps.

The reasons to use a T21 over laser.

A: AP3 to AP2 it does make that big a difference

B: Min Damage. This plays even more a factor with damage mitagation.

That is about it. I find the HAM cost to be about the same, although most say T21 is higher. Now after saying that, it is also dependent upon your play style. If you are a bleed and run like a little girl man (which I was) the T21 will be your best friend, consistant (spelling?) damage for bleeds. You won't be reapplying the shots repeatedly like you can with a Laser trying to get that Uber roll. Also for the bleed/run/warning shot man pick up box 1 in Sniper line first, you get to stack bleeds then.

If you are the type of player that wants to be a "sniper" (can argue if these even exsist in the game) a good Laser will suit you just fine, and you should pick up the Conceal line first box first for Conceal shot (wow that last sentence sounds confusing but makes sense to me for some reason).

In either case I would also suggest picking up a good Jawa Ion Rifle, stun damage baby, and a good E11, the poor red-headed stepchild of rifles, both of these rifles have their advantages over a T21 and Laser. Being a bleed man myself, I liked to start the bleed with my T21 then switch to my E11 to warning shot and headshot out.

Ever since I hit master rifleman I tend to use my t21 more. My t21 is 170-608 7.3 speed 40/39/61 on the ham. This is with a max dmg/mind powerup.

Right now I'm using a jawa and the t21 forPVP and laser for the PVE.

On a side note, I hit someone with 1003 damage headshot3 =)

Once I hit Novice Rifleman and went 0/0/0/2 with banked combat xp, the Laser Rifle was retired.

T21 is amazing, accept of course on poor tarquanis. If i were you, i wouldn't bother with a t21 untill you get to master, especially since you have a speed 11 one. T21 is a weapon for the master rifleman, where weapon speed doesn't matter. I don't even touch my laser rifles any more, and they are pretty good. With a min damage of 202, my T21 is a better PvP weapon due to mitigation.

Let us assume for a minute that a Laser and a T21 both fire at the same target and both get a base damage of 300. Ignoring all other factors (e.g., special damage multipliers, resitences, etc.).but AP for a minute:

Against an unarmored target, the Laser would hit for 468, but a T21 would hit for 585.

Against a target with light armor, the Laser would hit for 375, but a T21 would hit for 468.

Against a target with medium armor, the Laser would hit for 300, but the T21 would hit for 375.

Against a target with heavy armor, the Laser would hit for 150, but the T21 would hit for 300.

So in general, multiply the min and max damge of the T21 by 1.25 to determine what a Laser would have to be to hit for the same damage against medium armor or under. Multiply by 2 to determine what a Laser would have to be when against heavy armor. Of course, that is on a shot by shot basis.

But also take into account the rifle speed. A 5.5 speed Laser will fire twice as fast as your T21. Even if it is averaging half the damage per shot, if it fires twice as fast, it is doing the same basic damage. Of course, twice the shots means twice the HAM use, so figure that in as well.

The damage on that T21 is not bad. It will do even more impressive damage with a 33% max damage powerup on it. However, your problem will be speed (and maybe HAM costs). So you may want to pop a speed /mind powerup on it and see how you like it. Even then, at Novice, you are going to be firing at painfully slow speeds. You will probably want to do as was suggested and use it only for special purposes right now: Setting bleeds, your initial "free" shots, etc. Then expand on its use as your speed goes up.

actually i keep 3 rifles on me, a t21, a laser rifle and a jawa. T21 has got its distinct advantages and at master, speed is not a factor. you're only interested in damage

the speed on that thing is sickening.

that being said, i love my t21, it seems to almost always hit high, i will never pay 120 mind for a 300 hit shot (before armor even), and well, the speed on my laser is about the same as the speed on my t21... so its all good, if you ask me.

I'm still looking for a legendary T21, like on Tarquinas. Anyone have any idea where it came from? Looted from force npc or magseal container or something?
