According to the TC forums, spices and other items will be outlawed.

That includes sliced weapons as stated in the TC page. I think a good majority of us use sliced rifles. Would this change wreck us?

Well for a start, if you are a rebel and caught with a sliced gun you get a TEF. if you are an imp you lose faction points (amount still to be decided). And also this change will affect damage rates on all guns so it wont affect only Rifleman.

Sorry, but this is quite old news. The slicing will be a big non-factor since it will affect everyone equally. Either risk it or don't but unless you're a smuggler you likely will cut down on the sliced weaponry. The thing that may screw us, especially with the chef revamp, is spices. I don't know about you guys but a good muon trip helps a lot when it comes to grinding or taking out high lvl mobs. Now I'm not one of the guys carrying around a pack full of crates of this stuff (that's my friend) but I still enjoy one every now and again and this will hurt us a lot if we don't get some foods that are worthwhile. Some look pretty good but others just don't really make sense to us atm.

As for do I use a sliced rifle, I"m a smuggler I slice my own.

I haven't the foggiest idea how the crackdown changes are going to affect anyone, and neither does anyone else. No one will until it goes live.

However, I am currently storing up an assload of PistolXP to grab the Underworld tree if it seems necessary.

No way anyone's going to mess with my weapons/armor/muon. I sliced the **edit** things myself, and by god, no hick stormtrooper is going to fine me without getting a hole through his helmet!

I like the contraban idea, just needs to be reworked a little bit.

You know like if your caught with 10 sliced rifles or a crate of spice you get hit hard(Like with the intent to ditribute law in RL).

If your caught with one sliced rifle it's a slap on the wrist(and if your a high ranking overt IMP nothing:smileyhappy

Still something needs to be done so it starts feeling more like Star Wars and smugglers have things to smuggle.

Same, the best part is the underworld tree gives us bonuses for evading imps patrols.

Actually my build won't give me enough skill points for that so I'm going to end up swapping the tree's out. Just need to get a buttload of molecular clamp crates, as well as a few crates of slicer knives. If I ever decide to pick up slicing I might as well be prepared. I wonder how much of a protection we get, I mean it occurs after the scan so we have the chance of missing like everyone else...but then what?

And that's pretty much incorrect as rebels will be able to keep their sliced weapons while Imperials who want to stay Imperial can't. 5 STs pose no problem to anyone with any better fighting skills, but Imperials who will get scanned much more often (as they live in the towns) will either have to risk loosing a lot of FP or stop using sliced weapons.

This is what i don't get, hasnt really been clarified by the devs. From the page Imperial Crackdown page:

http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/content.jsp?page=Imperial%20Crackdown

"It has been rumored that smugglers can help cloak Rebels and contraband from Imperial searches in Cantinas and can escape the ever-searching sensors of wilderness probots and have made hefty profits in smuggling contraband."

They are completely reworking the penalties so that we rebel's get the shaft in comparison to imperials so actually what you just said is backwards. And actually it is a lambda class shuttle full of higher rank stormtroopers. About 10 of them if I remember right...check the GCW boards there is a screenie.

hehehe, i just hope we can fire on these squads... bust me for spice and sliced weapons, well you'll see what my SS2 will do while hoped up on spice ... yea free faction points ... almost makes me want to wander around towns more...

but on a serious note with the chef nerf this does hurt rifleman alot more than some other professions... how an they take away all of our mind foods a couple of months before they institue the new combat HAM changes???? guess i'll hae to hire a chef to make me 100 crates of my favs to last (hope thats enough)...
