Thread: POSSIBLE OTHER SOLUTIONS TO A RIFLEMAN NERF

Hi all! As we all can see, there has been much talk about a serious rifleman nerf and i personallyNEVER advocate he nerf of any profession. So icome here as a fellow riflemanto offer alternativs to a nerf. Many pvpers have been complaing about the lack of a speed cap and the "insane" amount of damge that rifleman can do, and they are partly right.This stems mainly from onemain pvpsituation: That of someon being full armored and buffed and still getting raped in secs, thx to the Stun dmage of the Jawa ion Rifle. So istarted thinking to myself, well what can we do to balance out our profession with the many other combat ones and the answer became clear. Instead of ahardcore nerf reducin our effeciveness to nothing, y not make a type of armor with stun reists OR and i dont want them to do this , but take the stun damage of the jawa. My main reson for removing the jawa ion stun damge is our somewhat unique ability to target an opponents mind pool. Quite frankly, being able to target an opponents mind pool and bypass ALL ARMOR RESISTS has something wrong with it.It makes the rifleman much harder to beat than is necessary, becasue even thouh i ih we could own everyone all the time, it jut snt fair to other professions.So instead of putting us on a high speed cap they could do one of these 2 things or speed cap certain moves at differing speeds such as strafe 2 at 2 secs and ANY MIND ATTACK at 2 - 3, because of the inability to heal mind damage. And beofre i leave, i kno we have high mind costs, but these are easily solved with breath and maybe some glucose paste. So anyway just let me kno what u think about this.

Have the deves suggested they were entertaining the idea of a nerf?


Is there any reason to think the devs listen to what anyone says about nerfs?

Have the devs come out on said something? No, but then again when do the devs ever come out and say they are going to nerf a professio that EVERYONE IN THE GAME IS CALLING A NERF FOR!!!! So i was just musing on some alternatives to a total rifle screw over ok?

People have made 37-38% stun resistant composite on starsider, I'd suggest getting a helmet with stun protection. It's too bad resources are so random as to prevent certain servers from even getting stuff like this or a good T21 or whatnot

Dude we have a mad weakness tho, i mean comeon a melee guy does 6x dmg to us so if they get close we are **edit**ed.



and why do they nerf the professions that dont need it and make the ones that do better. like tka for example nerf that **edit** dont do rifle. im srry to say but i love this game and all but the devs for it are retarded

Stun protection would be more livable for me then a nerf to us, makes more sense. I don't PvP much but I need to ask this... Don't most of you use a PSG on top of the armour? I have a nice MKIII with 38% energy and 28% all the rest, including stun. I know it'ts buggy but I have a crate and have at least 2 or morein inventory and switch around to the working one when the bug hits it. I did this at first to live with the x2.5 damage thing.

This has got to be a joke!


Don't even bring up the topic of nerf for a rifleman.


For the most part it takes a lot of tactic to drop someone without draining your mind pool out. Rifleman being unbalanced is like saying Pikeman (or insert choice profession that is neglected) doesn't need any attention.


With that said - a 1:1 ratio vs. some of the TKM's (not just TKM but the TKM super hybrids) out there - give me a break.

I agree . Pull the stun . But its Hard in PvP unless u are prepared and buff'd to the hilt that your Mind pool won't suffer something horrid during a semi prolonged fight . If u are dealing with them on more than a Muon High . Its quite difficult to take out the Pistoleers and TKM when they run in on you . Hard to hit little Bastiges. but at Range we should be the king of the field . and we excel at that . but Up close and Melee . if u don't have a good melee defense or Special protections like from pistoleer you will be flat out on the ground and praying a buddy doc walks by. if not to help u stand up from a KD . then to pop that Rez kit on u.

**edit**, I'm not even going to bother reading the frist post. I'm geting really sick of everyone being parnoid and screaming "what if!" a nerf hits. I got an idea, play the game have fun, if the nerf hits, DEAL! /bump from the post above, keep these nerf crys outta here. It's sicking cause the other boards suffer from the very same thing, allways have a town cryer, whail'in away about nerfs.

I don't even want to entertain the thought of a nerf. We are in line with where we should be. I think that entertaining the thought suggests maybe you are thinking we are overpowered. When you mix and match for a hybrid. Its going to be powerful - really powerful. Overpowered? I don't think so. If you blew 20 million or something insane for a 90% set of composite thats their problem, not a skill points issue. The armor needs to be addressed. Not a redesign for one of our few advantages.


Taking away stun is like a crappy bandaid. Not even band-aid, more like a piece of an old dirty sock with some elmers glue because you don't have tape.

who cares about nerfs ? rifleman is a good and awesome profession....i just hope we could be more like snipers....and do some real sniping pvp wise...as for the stun protection......RIS was suppose to be resistant to stun dmg....i am currently the owner of 1 out of 4 in totalRIS helmets on the naritus server....seeing how GDK scale drops are so rare.....and the big downer that RIS wasnt resist to stun anyways...nor medium armor....it was kinda pathetic to get the helmet wif the best stats on the server...so far......at least its unique =) i just hope they balance out the combat professions in the upcoming combat update...every combat profession needs a little bit of nerfing or help....
