Thread: Constructive Criticism on the Patch Deployment (Not a Rant)
Thunderheart is one of my favorite people, but I was really disappointed by the events of the week. I may be wrong, but I remember reading a post by TH that he would give advance notice of the patch going live. Well, I watched the boards all day (EST) on Wednesday, and checked the Dev Tracker regularly. I am confident knowing TH thathe posted with as much advance notice as he had, but that post did not go up on the boards until 10 PM EST. I did not think to check there again before logging for the night.
Basically, we had 8 hrs notice of the publish.
On top of that, the cap issue did not really come to the fore until it was very close to the publish, and unless you had the flexibility to be online at any time of the day and could grind and plant the hall, the combination of these events made it impossible to geta city up on a starting world.
Nowplayers need to wait another month to do that? Very very disappointing.
The purpose of this post is not to complain, but rather to be constructive here. When a publish of this magnitude is going to go live, can't we get 24 hrs notice? Can't we talk through the issues of the limited deployment of cities on the starting planets where most desire to put their cities? Was this the only way to do it? Couldn't TS and TS2 be used to test more than 10 cities on a starting world?
Perhaps I am naive. I don't pretend to understand the intricacies of programming although it is obviously a very complex system. But when you are going to change the very face of the game with a publish like this, there must be a better way to make the process fair for all players, not just those who have the luxury of playing whenever they want.
