Thread: Problems with granting building rights

I am the proud new mayor of Ror'Ine on Rori but I pretty much have no idea how this thing works. I got seven people to become residents so that is good, I got the emails saying that a new citizen has joined but I never got an email saying that I met some requirement. Also I had no idea that I have no other choice but to sit on my thumbs till my outpost grows to become a city so I can get a shuttleport (my city is VERY remote) and I'm sure many of my citizens will be rather upset when I tell them the news. But lastly and most important... is there any way to let people join my city without me standing there handing out building rights? Can't I just let anyone join my city or do I have to actually stand there and wait for them to show up?

Well you CAN disable the Zoning Rights from the CH terminal.

Unfortunately, this will allow ANYONE to come by, plop a structure down, and then declare themselves part of your city Now, if you're ina remote location, adn aren't too concerned about people finding you/or you actually DO wish to allow random strangers to come settle with you...that's not a big deal.

My personal wish is that you could enable zoning rights (so you can lock out undesirables), and then use the /grantzoningrights command on folks who are not in the immediate vicinity of the CH, or are even offline. I really have no desire to sit around waiting at my CH all day while folks slowly pour in, just so I can /grantzoningrights them. I guess we'll have to wait until we have militia, then THEY can dole out the zoning rights...but IT'S A PAIN RIGHT NOW!

Better yet...why not add the ability to plunk down houses as the Mayor, and then tag them as someone else's residence (there would have to be a pop-up box for the resident to /accept this of course!). This would allow the Mayor to also become a City Planner, in effect...I mean, as it is, even if I give someone zoning rights, they can still be a moron, and place their Large Corellian House right where the main street is supposed to be!

Thought? Comments? Plinka, can you prehaps pass some of these along?

Currently it appears as if /grantZoningRights works great the first day, but on the second day it doesn't record you as the Mayor of the City and you are kinda hosed as far as using that as effectively and have to toggle zoning rights on from the CH Terminal and hoping it all goes as planned.

However, once you can manage and add members to the militia they will also be able to /Grant people access to place buildings - thereby freeing you from the responsibility from sitting there day and night just to provide welcomed citizens the ability to place structures.
