Thread: City Militia
Hello all you politicians! I am not a politician, but a member of my cities militia. I dont know if this aspect of cities has been talked about much but I wanted to share a few ideas and get some feedback. I guess the politician forum is the best place to do so.
First there needs to be a way to /unwarn someone who has been /citywarn ed. We tried this last night and the player ended up being agroed to the militia for a long time. And /citypardon doesnt work on it. Also you can /citywarn a citizen, but you cant /cityban them.
Second there needs to be a way to appoint a chief or a few officers in the militia. The main reason is appointing new members to the force. As it is now only the mayor can add to the militia, and if he isnt on, or is far away an existing member should be able to recruit. And i think it would be best to limit this ability to just a few members.
Give me your input.
Thanks
/citywarn is supposed to last for 5 minutes.
/citypardon not working? isn't that for /cityban only?
/cityban can't ban a citizen that needs to be fixed incase a citizen has done something wrong the milita should have the ability to make them be forced into exile.

First off, the /citywarn TEF flag is designed to last for 5 minutes. Technically, once you are outside city limits, you can longer attack or be attacked by the city militia, but this doesn't appear to be working properly at the moment. So the warned person simply has to wait 5 minutes for the TEF to wear off. This was designed to drive someone from town with the idea that they weren't welcome back. So be extremely judicious in your use of the command.
The /cityban command should ban the player from all city buildings and services. This is not designed to eject them from town. If they were standing in the City Hall building and the were banned, they would automaticallt appear outside city hall and not be allowed access again until they were pardoned (/citypardon). This is also suppose to prevent them from entering civic and commercial structures that are maintained by the city and to prevent them from using the shuttleport.
In our city, our Mayor has appointed one person (myself) the responsibility of choosing all the militia members and running the organization. The only power I have that gives me that authority is the Mayor's willingness to have me in that position and to appoint and/or fire anyone that I request. So you can put together an organization like that, but you have to use yoru imagination and the mechanics in place to make it work. The devs can't build a complicated set of ingame mechanics to create an organization like you're wanting without a TON of extra work that would take away from everything else. So use the powers your city already has and form your own militia unit with the positions you decide. It should work.
NO no one should be allowed to add to the milita except the mayor.
mayor should have complete control no one hsould be allowed to grant any kind of zoning rights either besides the mayor.
And no pardoning a warn shold not be allowed either.
If the person was warned it was for a good reason.
I disagree Olepi. I'm happy to give my militia the right to /grantzonerights. Why? because if I'm not on, I don't want anyone that would be a great addition to our citizenship to wait until I can get on. This is especially the case with those of my guild that are in very funky time zones (2 in Korea, 2 in Europe).
Now we do have a member that is doing the city planning, however, all new citizens are told that they may have to move to make the city look more attractive. We even loan out free small houses just to get the radius up, and so they don't have to move all their stuff.
I dont think I was clear in my points.
I know how ban and warn work
I think there should be an /unwarn still, even with the 5 minute timer.
Im not asking for a complex militia system. But add a command so a current militia member can add a new one. The mayor cant always be logged in, or standing next to the city terminal. So there should be a way for other people to add to the militia.
Hope this clears it up.
