Politician Archive
Thread: Interesting question! How many people who placed cities were old UO players?
Then we read about the city cap and being on tatooine we looked at each other (we play in the same city and sometimes in the same house) we said "UO land rush". Since we have been through those a few times, we got ready a day before the patch was to come in. The nite the servers went down, we had our would be politican waiting at the capitol politician trainer spot, we had our master creature handler waiting on the way out of town with a mount, and we had our TKM out at the site clearing off spawns. (Everyone but me was at work btw so i did this with 3 computers).
Logged into launchpad at 3 am and saw the servers were up., had been up all nite but decided to stick it out. I waited for the servers from 6 am to 3 pm, got in with the politican first, MCH was loading while i was running to him, grabbed the mount, got on and galloped to the spot where i was using the TKM to take out a couple greater womp rat spawns... grabbed the city hall deed and tried to place. You cannot place there you are too close to Mos Coran! Move west about 150 meters, Placed city hall!
We started out with just the 5 people we had to have, and thought we could move people in gradually for our complete total of 11. Then we heard about the fact that outposts are going to be a dime a dozen and you need 20 people to grow to village and be unique. Since then we have spent all our time pressing flesh, joining hunting groups, hanging out in towns, and have come up with 19 people who we think are absolutely awesome.
So basically in the last 5 days we have placed a city hall within 8 minutes of the server coming up, and almost tripled our guild size, with all quality members, no server cross overs or anything like that.
Ultima Online- The Ultimate SWG Training Game!
Pretty much the same thing. Back in UO we had a town and went through the Land Rush to get the spot we wanted.
In SWG I logged out in front of the Trainer and my dear friend who was making the deed logged out at the spot we were going to place it (he has a droid, plus there was a factory near him, just in case). We waited all day, then when servers came up I logged in. After I got trained and started running toward the shuttle I got a tell from him
Deed was done and waiting.
Being prepared is everything, but does not guarantee. I have read a billion horror stories (as I am sure everyone else has) about people being prepared, but not making it.
I guess we can all just be glad it was not like UO:R, where right before you placed you got kicked kicked to another sub-server on the other side of the world, due to their "load balancing code"....
Yeah i have heard horror stories too. Preparation will get u most of the way, but i know people who got to their spots before I did, the only thing that separated me from them is they had critical fails, sometimes multiple times. My answer to critical fails is this. Whenever u want something to turn out as best as possible when crafting in SWG? Have a Mon Cal make it. It doesnt make sense to have anyone else making your high end or critical item.
Scads of us were together from UO and placed a city on Talus, Kettemoor on Friday. We haven't done any recruiting of note, but we've managed to scrounge up 15 people to the upgrade.
Anyone else think when TH says anyone can experience a player city he means the unlimited outposts? Thats what i think he means. At most they may double the cap for actual cities, but they will never allow just anyone to have a city. Kind of a bummer but at the same time it wouldnt mean anything if everyone had their own. People have to branch out some.
I posted a thread about how we got our city.
I've played only a few minutes of UO. I was a little saddened and am getting more saddened at how retro SWG is getting in the play experience. Definitely not the "next step" in game play from the originals. ![]()

Never played UO not even thought of playing it. I'm an old Diablo II player, well before dupping got so out of hand that it started turning into Diablo I. I got my spot on Tatooine on the direct spot that I had picked out in July when I founded the city with my friend. We had about 50 citizens going into the patch and now have well over 100.
Now the simple truth is my prepration was an understanding that I was on Starsider which is a pretty packed galaxy and Tatooine was a very sought after planet. It was simple, I had to plan out for any problem that came up. I had enough parts to made 5 halls, carried 3 sets on me, had one in the bank and another sitting in my house. In addition I was cloned in the city that I was going to take a shuttle to just incase I missed the shuttle or it was more then 3 mins till it came so I can attack the nearest imp and get an easy flight back to the city. I had my crafting droid so I could run and craft the city hall at the same time and had spice so I can spice up while running to ensure that if I was attacked, I had well over 2k ham to take out the attacker. I logged out right in the spot that I was told the trainer would spawned and waited from the night before to 3pm when the server went up. Trained, rode the shuttle, pulled out my droid, ran toward the spot while crafting and placed my city hall right in the correct spot. You just have to understand the mechanices of the game and you will always be prepared and not need previous games to train you for prepration.
