Thread: What happens to non-city harvesters when your town expands?

I turned on zoning to stop people from planting harvesters in my city. And today i went and looked around and found i was more then justified in doing this. Since the highest concentration is in my city. I knew i would have no building space left. There are currently 7 heavy chems and 4 mediums on my city limits.

When my city expands on thursday. These will all become part of my city. But i havent granted these people zoning rights. Are they grandfathered into the city? Or do i get a chance to eject them?

Thank you for your answers to this

You dont get a chance to get rid of them, but u can up the property tax to 50 percent and then just refund it to the people u dont want to pay it, that might make them move.

If they are legit harvesters, they'll move when the resource moves.

Fodder I understand your pain but let me give you the pain of a Master Doctor. Class 4 liquid petro is resource specific item for an advanced component for medical supplies.Class 4 doesn't show it'sugly head very often, and even more rare at those numbers. If any doctor with a chemical harvester finds that spot they are gonna place there. I know I would.! But just as soon as the shift happened in 7-10 days I'd be gone too. So while I understand your pain be patient they'll be gone shortly. After all the stuff they are harvesting helps you. That and if you charge high taxes on them you might just alienate some future resident to your city. Not only that but give your city a bad name in the process. Funny thing about doctors. They talk to a lot of people!

Yeah, we can't help where the game puts resources, but I think that players should make it a point to talk to the city mayor, give them a "area" you'd like to be in, and then ask them to allow you to put your harvester there until the resource shift... Maybe pay a set fee or something, details can be worked out...

could also be a money makeing venture you could allow harvesters within your city limits at a price say a percentage of what it makes or something of that nature youll need the cash to keep your city hall up

I'm sorry but this is BS. Every mayor I have encountered wants your stuff gone and wants it gone now. Even if it is legit.

The whole thing is a big hairy mess. You got legit cities that want/need to grow that get in the way of legit harvesters wanting/needing the resource.

Yes, that may be true. I didn't say it wasn't, but what I am saying, is that both the MAYOR and the HARVESTER need to WORK TOGETHER... Will every mayor work with you? No, but if you ask, and they say no, you don't lose anything, do you? Offer to pay their city say 10% of your PROFIT of the resources harvested from their city limits. Note I said PROFIT... dont' count your expenses to run your factory, house whatever...

Well the roleplaying Politician in me decided to let them go. When the resource shifts they will be gone. Besides why make an enemy now when it could shift tomorrow?

I spent days camping near my city and anytime I saw a plyer on the overhead map approach the city I immediately ran over to talk to them. I was nice to them though because you won't get far by being an ass. In fact, the one guy I talked to said he would talk to his guild and it turned out some of his guildmates also had harvesters by our town and they came by and picked them up. I returned the favor in kind and told folks in my guild not to put harvesters near them and turned out we had two heavies by them that we pulled. Worked out nicely when everyone was civil
