Thread: Say you are one of the lucky ones to get a hall down...

Are you ready and prepared to fight for your city? Placing the hall is only half the battle. Lets be realistic here, the 10 cap on the popular servers is going to cause a lot of contention. Chances are good that some 100 person guild out there that has planning a city from day 1 will not get their city placed. They'll end up saying F this, let go take over another city, we deserver a city on this planet... and overnight, 100 houses spring up around some poor guys outpost.

Prior to the caps, I couldn't really see much city greifing taking place in normal situations (maybe in factional rivalries). With the caps, I think its going to be a horrible problem and is going to lead to some very nasty situations.

Heck, we've had imperial griefers plop down bases in our planned neutral city, so the fighting isn't really new, you know.

Best way to deal with the tall guys is to give them incentives to lick the ground. And dont look down on me that way youre not THAT taller.

I think the mayor has the option of whether the city grows or not. You can't stop folks from building in your city that I know of (zoning rights are for commercial structures) but if they ring your city you can foil them by not expanding. Although this will limit your aspirations they may leave once caps are lifted.

There are certainly problems that will have to be worked out. I certainly think mayors should have more control over building in their cities. This would allow for a lot better city planning than just having people plop houses on their lands.

I dont' know if you can be a mayor of more than one town, but this shouldn't be allowed.

The first thing to do after placing city hall is to enable zoning restrictions. That way no one can build inside your city limits.

After that, if you find yourself "ringed in", just don't grow for awhile. A few weeks and they'll get tired of waiting once the caps are lifted.

That's the point: if you don't grow, you don't get the headstart.
