Thread: So, I am an unopposed incumbent mayor...do the citizens have to vote?

I saw in the city guide that all votes default to the incumbent. However, without an opponent, I can't verify that all votes have defaulted to me. Do the citizens need to vote for me to get experience on the next city update or not?

No. I have 3 citizens that got called out for military maneuvers before they had a chance to vote. They apparently voted "absentee ballots" because I go their xp, even though they won't be back until tomorrow.

Could Plinka confirm this please, as without a hard word on this I'm unwilling to let a week go by without having anyone vote for me at this stage of city growth as every xp point is important.

I would appreciate an offical word on this please.

Go to your voting terminal and look and see how many votes you have. It should be the number of citizens you have, assuming that no one but you are running for Mayor and no one has voted for that other person.

You can't check the standings because there's no opponent. That's why we're wondering.

What he means is this....if you go to the voting terminal to check the progress of the election, and no one else has registered to vote, you know for a fact that you've got all of the votes in the city. Then , go to the city management terminal and check the citizen cout. There it is.....that's how many votes you've got. Tack a couple zeros to the end of that # and you'll see your xp! WHOA!

And my point is unless Plinka or a dev responds, I'll still be uneasy about this whole thing.

WHOA is what you will say when you plan out how many citizens you need exactly and you come in 100 XP short because the mayor, while able to vote at the terminal, will not get XP for his/her own vote.

the mayor not getting xp for his own vote is a bug... which if not already will be corrected by next thursday

sorry bungled that one...

CONFIRMED by a player...

no more than 5 of my 30 citizens voted for me... I checked... and I got 2900 xp once again the 30th vote would have been mine but that was bugged

And it clearly says so in the guides that this is how it is supposed to work

Plinka already confirmed this and posted it in the FAQ AND it is in the city guide iirc. You read both of those right?
