Thread: Militia, zoning rights, why?
What is the reasoning behind militia and zoning rights? What am I missing, because I don't understand it.
Zoning rights exist to give the mayor some control over city layout, right? So why get the militia involved?
This is not a criticism, just asking why.
I's like to know why too. I think it should be a checkbox, personally, so you can decide what powers certain members of the militia can have. That way we could give our City Planner zoning control, but not our general militia who, although I love them, don't have that much of a clue about how the buildings are being placed. ![]()

Our city has a Town Council who also works with the mayor. I'd love for them to be able to grant zoning rights.
The militia is a totally different group. Still doesn't make sense to me.
agreed that needs to be changed
have a list to assign council (or town can vote them in)
have a list for malitia (minus the grant building....)
If you don't trust someone enough to give them the ability to grant zoning rights then you should not be putting them on the Militia anyway. Maybe you need to open up and share your plans with the militia so they don't go and allow some numbskull to build where you don't want them too.
Communication and trust can solve this. I don't see why people can trust a person enough to be able to TEF anyone in the city, yet not trust them enough to allow people to build.
Bah. Doozy, you're not getting my point.
Trust has nothing to do with this. What possible connection is there between militia and city planning?
In our case its not a matter of trust, its that they just don't know enough, by their own admission, about lot sizes and such to accurately lay out the city. They don't want zoning rights, and while I trust them not to use them, they don't want to be hounded by others who know they they have them, either.

I see what you're saying. Keeping people from being in your city, and allowing them into your city would be the job of the Militia. I agree a checkbox for each member of the militia indicating whether or not they can grant zoning rights would be a good thing. But, as it stands, communication with your militia can solve any problems. If all else fails tell them not to use it and tell anyone who asks them to do so that your militia is bugged and it doesnt work. Everyone believes you when you say there is a bug.
