Thread: A historic meeting of the mayors of Chilastra

The mayors of Chilastra have got into the habbit of creating and/or joining a "gov" channel everytime we log on. We now have a hotline to each other and this is proving very useful in these early days as we all get our hands around our new powers. I highly recommend this for other servers.

Also, we are starting to form a meta-community. Currently we are in the forming phases, but we plan to do galactic events down the road and slowly develop rivalries and alliances.

Here is the write-up I posted on Chilastra:

Last night several of Chilastra's mayors gathered at the capital building in Cornet. The purpose of the meeting was to for the mayors introduce each other and establish lines of communication to each other. We compared notes, discussed plans, talked about ways we could help each other, and waited for the galactic commision to complete reviewing our city progress.

Once the reports started comming in and our city charters were expanded, we quickly trained each other and then headed back to our cities for some heavy celebrations.

Currently we are all focused on building out our cities. And as mayors we are supporting each other in that endeavor. We also discussed how we can collaborate together to curtail smuggling operations, and how we could establish a security alert network to use our collection militias to hunt down know criminals (more on that in the comming weeks).

But this attendee already noticed some potential divisions even this early on in the process. It was very clear that some mayors were quite loyal to the empire and others were clearly not. Others seemed to care not one way or another, but seemed to have other political agendas in mind. It ought to make for interesting times in the future

The mayors in attendance were:

  • Calo'
  • Grailen Infernos
  • Ichiir
  • Iohannes Terranfel
  • Kraftee
  • Krypt Razor
  • Petreak Roulaan
  • Ronny Starwalker
  • Seyr Oryx
  • Twiyla Paris
  • Viperar

The next meeting will be via the gov channel. Once my shuttleport comes in, I invite all mayors to come to Tusken's Bane for a face to face meeting. I suggest we meet face to face every other week. We should pick a different host city each week. This way, we can get a feel for how each mayor is contructing and building each town.

Great idea! I will have to talk to our mayor (Wasabi) on Gorath about this. Would help to know the other mayors around

Nice.

I've been trying to meet the other Corellian mayors on Intrepid and have posted that a summit might be a good idea.

Other folk seem to like that and would like to expand it to a Senate

I cannot stress enought how important this part of what I posted is:

I place this gov channel at an even higher priority than the "city" channel people are requesting. The reason why is that dedicated chat channels help communities form and maintain. Cities by definition, are already a community and have other tools to help keep them together. Now having said that, I certainly wouldn't say no to both. But if it is a choice between one or the other...well then a gov channel would give the biggest bang for the buck, IMHO.

We did something like this on Scylla about a week before cities came out. Unfortunately if such a thing is to happen again someone else will have to step forward and head it . . . I did the last one, but with my new job I just don't have the time to organize such things any more and still give the time to the city that they deserve.

What can I say? You guys rock.

This is very simliar to an RP concept I've wanting to employ for about a year now, but have always had one issue or another get in my way (tackle me and wrap me up with duct tape is more like it!). I'm currently doing my best to help develop the host city for the Congress body, and hope to be in a position to advance the actual Civic Congress itself in a couple months.

Good luck to you guys on Chilastra. If you allow observers, I'd love to sit in on some of your meetings.
