Thread: Optimal Mayor/City Progession
Assumptions:
1) Politician XP caps like all other XP. This means that it's impossible to accumulate more than 2000 XP on the first Assessment Day (AD).
2) More than 20 people in your town on the first AD will grant you no additional XP. It has other benefits, but not XP.
Givens:
1) The city has 20+ citizens on the first AD.
Results:
On the first AD, the mayor will gain 2000 politician XP and the city will grow to a village.
Question:
Where do you spend your XP?
A) Take Fiscal and Civic Policy 1 to gain planetary registration and Mission Terminals.
B) Take someother combination. (I'd like to hear opinions on why.)
On to next week:
Assumptions:
1) You have grown your city to 50 people.
2) You chose option A above.
Results:
You will gain 5000 politician XP and your city grows to Township.
Question:
Now what?
1) Take Fiscal policy 2 (-2500 xp) for the bank terminals and to increase your XP cap for next week. Take Martial Policy and City Customization at level 1 (-2000 xp) and bank the other 500xp
2) Take Fiscal and Civic Policy 2 (-5000) xp and bank zero.
Discuss.
If it was, I'd have to assume that the DEVS wanted the players to gain Politician XP faster than normal to test the later aspects of city planning which would be impossible in the current format since it would take weeks.
I really wish we could just get an official word and just stop the guessing.
They didn't make any changes to player cities yet. What was on Test Center was pushed to live.
Correspondents get the ability to get unlimited exp for their professions, for testing purposes.
We have a neutral city. I plan to spend xp in week 1 in the same way as you describe. If you have a city with a strong military bent, you will probably take Martial instead Civic for Militia.
In week 2, even with 50 citizens, you will only be a Village not a Township. Your point is correct though, you now have hit xp cap in week 2 as well. So how to spend the 5k xp? I agree with Fiscal 2 as well, and would opt for option #2 and take Civic 2 as well. The reasoning would be to take Civic 3 for 5k xp in week 3 and have Med Center and Cantina capabilities.
Week 3, (Townshipbut assume 85 residents for now, not the 35 minimum), Take the city to Civic 3 and spend the 3500 xp balancein Martial 1 & 2.
Week 4, (A City!Place that shuttle! Assume 85 residents still) andFiscal 3 City Customization1 & 2.
Week 5 (Metropolis, assume 100 residents), train in Civics 4, you Statesman you!
Week 6 (100 pop) Fiscal 4, Mr. Accountant.
Week 7 (100) Martial and Custom 3.
Week 8 (100) Martial 4 for Faction Terminals: Warmaster!
Week 9 (100) Custom 4, Urban Planner, and Master Politician!
