Thread: All right, now that I'm a city-less politician, what do I get out of my skill points?

People screwed by yesterday's race basically spent 500 app points for a skill tree that gives them nothing. (Although being a master smuggler I'm getting the hang of it).

Seriously, what's the point, since all of us know perfectly well you can't "convince' the people to vote for you. They'll vote for their PA Mayor and this is it. (Not saying this is bad, but this is how it works).

Other option is takeover of a smaller city, which we won't do because we're not **edit**. We won't take other people's work away. (Well, not people we have nothing against to begin with anyway)

Best way to deal with the tall guys is to give them incentives to lick the ground. And dont look down on me that way youre not THAT taller.

Well you have 3 options.

1) build on a non-starter planet

2) join a city and have friends vote for you just to get xp (what to do w/ it is another question)

3) do nothing, more cities, etc. should come out sometime

4) give up the skill and go back to normal life.

1) Can't, or rather, we'd have to buy houses for everyone since prepatch houses can't be placed anywhere in the original planet. SoE with the cap is in effect enforcing us to buy new houses to move. That's millions of credits, considering the numbers involved.

2) Likely outcome, we're likely to merge with a smaller group. (Voluntarily, not a hostile takeover). there remains the fact that the Pa who placed the hall wants to keep the mayor in their ranks for a while. (Which is perfectly legitimate)

3) I didn't spend 500 APP points to "do nothing". Luckily, I didn't have to surrender any skills as I planned to drop them only when wanting to train politician skillboxes.

4) In that case, that's a net loss of 500 App XP for a profession I can't use and wasn't advertised as such.

I would think it OBVIOUS not to get Politician, let alone Master it, if you don't have a city lined up.

They should make missions in the "NPC" cities. You can handle the minor affairs of city life in say, Mos Espa. This will allow you to get some political exp and not have to have your own player city. Lets face it not ALL political persons are president of the U.S. Which if you run a PA that is in effect what you are. There are other political roles to be filled in other cities.

This will give people exp and the ability to use thier time to gain some money towards building thier own eventual city.

I took it on one character just to see what all it has on the tree, Im a Master Musician/Novice Doc and APP is like water so I didnt lose anything by trying it out. ( Yes I could have just looked at the tree but wheres the fun in that? )

Anyways, just an idea. I doubt SoE will listen but hey, we can only try.

I wonder how much votes are worth?

Some one must be willing to pay for a few to train until new patch.

"Lets face it not ALL political persons are president of the U.S."

I knew this was coming .... No they aren't all president, but they are all in the business of appealing to PEOPLE, not toasters or doorbells or kumquats.

As a guild leader, much of my time is spent trying to shape our agenda, making sure my guildmates have what they need and resolving conflicts among them. It's that kind of experience that is going to qualify you to properly manage a city, not administering a bunch of npcs who won't argue with your decisions, get hinky about paying taxes or argue with each other.

NPC official at Mos Espa is having a problem with an irrate business man who was over charged on his taxes. You job is to speak with the NPC business person and work out a solution on behalf of the City of Mos Espa.

How exactly is that NOT dealing with people and how is that dealing with a toaster?

Lets not start with the whole " I run a PA and only I know how hard it is" I have run several rather good guilds on several MMORPGs, I know full well what it takes to make it work. Whats that got to do with getting politcial exp without owning a city??
