Right now we have a 7 day waiting period on redeclaring residency. That means that if you should choose to move your house, in which you have already declared residency, you will need to wait 7 days before you count as a citizen of the city again.

I propose the following: Change the 7 day waiting period from "redeclaring" to a 14 day waiting period for "declaring" in any manner. Even if you have never had a residence before, you should have to have your new home declared as your residence for 14 days before it takes effect. This establishes a residency requirement before allowing someone to vote. When a city hall placement is attempted, it should not place unless there are already at least 5established residents.

With these residency requirements, most guilds will not be able to strongarm their way into a city and take it over immediately by gaining voting rights suddenly. It will take 2 weeks for them to be able to vote, during which time they can be evaluated as citizens and banned if appropriate.

What do you think?

I think that it should be 7 instead of 14

Griefers can live with a 7 day waiting period to snatch a city. 14 days is getting a bit long and tiresome though. A 7 day period likely will not deter anyone.

how long do i have to wait before i'm not considered a griefer? 7 days, 2 weeks, a month... 3 months.... am i always a griefer if i want to move into a town and run for mayor?

and if so, why am I a griefer for wanting to use the skills that were put into the game by the devs?

So, if they put the house down today, just outside the limit, then next week they are in the limit, the week after that they vote.

Doesn't really change much.

The whole idea is that cities belong to the population. If you want a small private city, simply put it where noone wants to go. If you put it someplace popular expect people to live there, and expect people to eventually disagree with you and attempt to vote you out.

It's politics.
