Thread: Things that could have been different....
1. Extend the terms of the mayor. What this means is instead of weekly voting make into monthly voting. Xp would be gained automatically upon recieving vote throughout the month. A voter could retract a vote if they choose but the vote the make next within that month would not gain the new votee any XP. (this could be ironed out though)
2. Leave the city refreshes in.
3. Give the citizens the option to nominate that the mayor be impeached. With the current weekly voting, if a snot nosed kid decides that he wants to run for mayor and brings a bunch of his 13 year old gamer buddies in to vote him in, there is no real progress being made for cities who want to do right by its citizens.
These are rough ideas, Im in a hurry so I didn't put them together as well as I would have like to. Later when I have a chance I'll ammend it to make it easier to understand.
1. I do think the terms could be longer, however there would be no way to get experience. The Mayor in power automatically gets all the votes from all the citizens, so that someone can't run in the last 5 mins and get two friends to vote for them and win. With the exp system how you proposed it to be, the mayor would essentially lost 100 exp everytime someone changed their vote to the challenge.
2. You mean the updates? /agree
3. I think the terms, a week or a month, are short enough that you can just vote for someone else if you don't like the mayor.

Im typing while Im running out the door.
1. No, what I meant was as soon as citizen A votes for the mayor, the XP is applied to the current mayors XP stats immediately. Would not have to wait one month for XP to be gained. The way the system sits now, the current mayor could get votes but has to wait a week until he gets his XP. My thought is that a mayor should get XP as soon as a vote is applied. This would effectively give the mayor(who gave up skill points and professions) a reason to not be disheartened. Meaning, if joebob went through all the effort and cost to get a city down, if he is in fact voted out at the end of the week, at least he has the knowledge that his efforts were not pointless.
3. Would go hand in hand with number one. If there were a month of leadership by a mayor and after 2 weeks the current mayor is not doing his job, then he could effectively be impeached an replaced with a new mayor at the discretion of the citizens.
ok I agree with some nad not with others...
First, I like the 7 day cycle just the way it is... I think it'll help keep things moving and the current mayor working hard to gain reelection.
Second, I think the voting xp should come in real time with each citizens vote only counting once per cycle. They can vote for another mayor as many times as they want during the cycle but only the first vote would count for xp purposes. This would keep anyone from whoring xp and at the same time give the current mayor enough flexibility to enhance his city. Case in point... here we all are with new cities and can't do anything for them because none of us have any xp to do anything more than place our city hall... waste of effort if you ask me.
Thirdly, the impeachment thing becomes a mute point if the elections remain at 7 day intervals.
